Australia - Jamie Hardgraves, 43, Beaudesert, Qld, 17 May 2016

Gold Coast man may have been involved in a car crash before disappearance

A Gold Coast man who was last seen a week ago may have been involved in a car crash before he went missing.
The last confirmed sighting of Jamie Hardgraves was on Thiedke Road in Beaudesert on Tuesday May 17.
Police said there were grave fears for his safety and said the behaviour was out of character.

Mr Hardgraves is described as Caucasian, about 175cm tall and of a proportionate build.
He has short, sandy hair and blue eyes.

Mr Hardgraves phone and wallet were found inside the vehicle and he had reportedly spoken to his mother on Tuesday night, telling her he was on his way to Coolangatta, police say.
Police found the 43-year-old's car three hours in the opposite direction

I'm thinking the vehicle looks more like someone took a lump of wood to it than an accident with another vehicle or tree. Just a thought. Something definitely fishy here. :

I agree, It looks like it has been repeatedly hit with something as opposed to one hard hit into a tree or pole or something of that nature.
Hmmm... I hope they can work out by the damage what happened.
Somethings not right with him being found in the opposite direction to where he told his mother he was going.
Something definitely not adding up here.

Police remain baffled over the mystery disappearance of Gold Coast man Jamie Hardgraves after almost two months of investigations...

Insp Deacon said he believed the CCTV sighting at Stanthorpe was pivotal.

“We don’t know how he’s ended up in Stanthorpe and what’s happened after Stanthorpe on May 18,” he said.

Have asked a Mod to merge the two threads.

Vale Jamie. Prayers of strength and comfort to his family and loved ones.

I daresay the roo was found nearby to Jamie's car.
I had a large buck appear out of nowhere early one morning out in the sticks where I live and cause similar damage to my 4WD, took the radiator out amongst other damage.
Very distressing, I'm an animal lover.

Skeleton under tree at Glen Aplin identified as missing Gold Coast man Jamie Hardgrav

Skeletal remains found on a property near Stanthorpe in Queensland's Granite Belt last week have been identified as the body of missing Gold Coast man Jamie Hardgraves
    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-12-0...graves/8093938

If I'm not mistaken he was found not far from where his crashed car was located.

Maybe he suffered internal injuries when hitting the kangaroo, went to find help and sat down under a tree for a short rest to catch his breath?

Jamie's remains were found a long way from where his car was located G:

'Last Thursday, his remains were discovered under a tree on a property at Glen Aplin, about 180 kilometres from where his car was located in May.'

'His damaged ute was found the following day [May 18 2016] on Stanthorpe-Texas Road on the eastern outskirts of Texas, near the Queensland-New South Wales border.'

and it's believed he had received a lift to Stanthorpe subsequent to the accident:

'Police said it appeared his ute was heavily damaged when he hit a kangaroo, and was not driveable.'

'Detectives believe he was given a lift to Stanthorpe, where he was seen later that night.'

Of course, this doesn't mean it's not possible that Jamie had internal injuries from the accident that he disregarded and those injuries lead to his death.

Also, it would have taken Jamie a little over 2 hours to walk the 11 km route from Stanthorpe to Glen Aplin where his remains were found:

A strangely circuitous route if Jamie was travelling from the Gold Coast (Thiedke Road in Beaudesert?) to see family in Coolangatta:

'A Gold Coast man who was last seen a week ago may have been involved in a car crash before he went missing.

The last confirmed sighting of Jamie Hardgraves was on Thiedke Road in Beaudesert on Tuesday May 17.'

Gold Coast man may have been involved in a car crash before disappearance

'Mr Hardgraves was last seen at Thiedke Rd, Beaudesert on Tuesday, May 17 and then later that evening was caught on CCTV at a service station at Stanthorpe.

He had told family he was headed to Coolangatta but his white ute was found abandoned and smashed on the side of Stanthorpe-Texas Rd, about 16 kilometres east of Texas.'

Jamie Hardgraves’ disappearance still a mystery to Gold Coast police almost two months on

'Police found the 43-year-old's car three hours in the opposite direction.'

Abandoned car missing half its front bumper could help police trace a missing 43-year-old man who vanished a week ago

Jamie's movements on 17 and 18 May 2016, based on the above (plus route ending in Coolangatta):

Google Maps: Beaudesert via Texas (with diversions to Stanthorpe and Glen Aplin) to Coolangatta
