CO - Styron Smith, 31, Canon City, 11 June 2016
A rafter reported missing in the Arkansas River on Saturday was reported home safe on Sunday morning, but the Fremont County Sheriff's Office now says he's on the run. Styron Smith, 31, has a nationwide warrant from the Colorado Department of Corrections for absconding parole. He was in prison for assault and has been labeled violent.
He was in a raft, along with other family members, when it flipped around 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Everyone that fell in the water was later accounted for, except for Smith. A search and rescue operation was launched until dark, when crews called off the search. Around 5 a.m. Sunday, family members said they found Smith's clothing he was wearing during the river accident at their home in Canon City. His family said he did not know where he was.
Smith is described as five-foot-eight inches tall, 150 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
