Father joins police in search for missing son

A father is joining police, in an effort to find his missing son.
Matthew Foster of Scarborough hasn't been seen since he left an Old Port bar over the weekend.
Police say surveillance video shows Matthew Foster leaving Oasis by himself around 11:30 Friday night and there's been no trace of him since.

Oh OH....went to the WATERFRONT area....oh no....deja vu. How many cases like this are we going to see.

So he left the Oasis alone at about 11:30 and then the last sighting of him was about midnight (per his father in article posted above) when he was captured on a surveillance camera walking past the Pearl. I googled the two bars and asked for distance between them. Google maps said 1 to 2 minutes depending on whether you are walking or driving. Why did it take him 30 minutes to get from one place to another? The Oasis is just one street over from The Pearl. The Pearl appears to be further from the water than The Oasis. Wonder why they think he might have gone towards the waterfront?

He has one of those faces that just looks familiar, iykwim.. 🤔

Maybe he ran into acquaintances or friends and stopped to talk?

If he is anything like the 23 yr olds I know, he probably wanted a quick bite to eat. My kids are that age and if they have been drinking, the first thing they want is some food, before they go back home. I wonder if he stopped in one of the other bars/restaurants to grab a quick bite?

Good thought. I think the article said the police were checking other cameras. Maybe they'll spot something on those.

I'm worried about his diabetes if he only had a small amount of medicine on him.

Police divers searching Portland Harbor for missing Scarborough man[/h]http://www.pressherald.com/2016/06/15/portland-police-ask-for-help-locating-missing-scarborough-man/

"Police divers were preparing to enter Portland Harbor on Wednesday afternoon after police dogs tracking the scent of a missing Scarborough man led officers to the area of Chandler’s Wharf."

Oh, No, no, no!

Police divers to resume search for missing Scarborough man today

http://www.pressherald.com/2016/06/15/portland-police-ask-for-help-locating-missing-scarborough-man/

“We’re very confident there is more to do there (Chandlers Wharf),” Sweat said late Wednesday evening. Maine State Police cadaver dogs led searchers to the spot, but searchers are not certain that the dogs detected Foster’s body, Sweatt said. “The cadaver dogs have indicated there is a person in the water. ".........."Foster’s case parallels that of James Dyer, 23, of Saco, who was reported missing from the Old Port on New Year’s Eve when he got separated from his friends as they searched for their car near the waterfront. Dyer’s body was found in the water nearly two months later."

If they find him I hope he's on camera somewhere so his friends and family will know what happened. Especially if he was with anyone.

I do not know if it is relevant or if this young man was even drinking alcohol, but doing so with Type I diabetes pumps a lot of sugar and fat into your digestive processes. That can really throw your blood glucose out of whack. There is no info about how much, if any, trouble he had managing his BG or A1C. But it definitely could have been affected by several different factors - exercise, intake, general condition, etc.

Search suspended in Portland Harbor for missing Scarborough man

Lt. James Sweatt said in a news release. "While it is possible that Matthew is in the harbor, we are confident that the area of highest probability has been thoroughly searched. If information is developed indicating a new or specific location divers will resume their efforts. The investigation remains open and we continue to try and re-trace Matthew’s movements."

I have never been to Maine and I read too many Stephen King novels, but from what I understand there are way too many places to get lost in Maine. Prayers for him, his friends, family, and searchers, professional and otherwise.
