PA - Toy Charda Bryant, 26, found slain in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, 14 June 2016

Police have identified the woman who was found dead in Fairmount Park early Tuesday morning as Toy Charda Bryant, age 26, of Chester. Police say there are no updates at this time on the investigation of who killed Bryant.

Bryant was found face down and handcuffed, approximately 10 feet from the road. At a press conference yesterday afternoon, Homicide Capt. James Clark ran through a list of injuries the woman had sustained: one stab wound in her upper left torso, multiple stab wounds in her back, defensive wounds on her hands, and a gunshot wound on the back of her head.

Investigators believe her body was dumped in the park Monday night...

"I believe she was in a fight for her life," the captain said. "Unfortunately, she lost"...

The body was discovered around 8:30 a.m. by a couple driving along the 5300 block of Georges Hill Drive, Clark said.

Philadelphia Police have arrested one woman, in the murder of a young Chester woman, and another woman is being questioned...

“She was stabbed several times,” said Philadelphia Police Capt. James Clark. “Almost, not to kill her, the stab wounds, but just to hurt her and torture her. She had some type of rag that was shoved into her mouth, to attempt to suffocate her and at the end of the day, she was put on her hands and knees and she was shot in the back of the head. It was a truly tragic and vicious killing”...

Over the weekend, police arrested 39-year-old Shavon Armstrong, who they believe was an accomplice to the murder... Police add that Bryant and her alleged killers were longtime friends.

Charges against 28-year-old Shintele Smith of the 2600 block of South Bailey Street were announced on Tuesday afternoon...

Both women are charged with Murder, Criminal Conspiracy, Kidnapping, Robbery, and related offenses...

Police say it appears Bryant owed her assailants $800 and could not pay up. They also say it turns out the three women were friends.
