FL - Mass Shooting at Pulse Nightclub, Orlando 12 June 2016 #5
For those of you who want to discuss the terrorism factor and all that goes along with it you now have your own thread.
CLICK HERE for the Rampage Killings and Terrorist Attacks forum. Talk about all the issues surrounding terrorism as it relates to this case and terrorism in general.
This thread is about the 49 victims and the shooter in the Pulse Nightclub killing in Orlando.
On this thread you can talk about the victims, (that would be nice) talk about the actual crime, the shooter, the shooter's father's comments and so on.
There will be some crossover with the thread on terrorism. I realize this. However, it is up to you to pick the right place to post your opinions.
If your opinions are about terrorism in general and in this case, radical Islam, sleeper cells and so on then you need to CLICK HERE and post in the terrorism forum.
If you want to discuss the Orlando case then this is the thread for you.
If you want me to be black and white about what you can and cannot post that's just something I can't do. You have to ask yourself if what you are about to post is directly connected to Orlando or more connected to terrorism. Then it's up to you to decide which forum is correct for your post.
DON'T BE A JERK TO YOUR FELLOW POSTERS. If you remember this golden rule of posting and post in the right thread, you are going to be just fine.
Carry on please...
On June 12, 2016, a mass shooting occurred at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. At least 50 people, including the gunman, were killed and 53 others were wounded. The shooter, Omar Mir Seddique Mateen, a 29-year-old Muslim American of Afghani descent, pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) immediately before the attack, which has been labeled an act of domestic terrorism.
The attack is the deadliest mass shooting in United States history, the deadliest incident of violence against LGBT people in U.S. history, and the deadliest attack on civilians in the U.S. since September 11, 2001.

Is it true that the person that crashed into the funeral procession, was simply in a rush and didn't realize that cops were pulling up along the side on motorcycles?
Or was this something more sinister? You can fool some of the people some of the time; But guess what? The Bus Stops Here (Life No Parole/ Don't Pass Go: Don't Collect Your $200)

The vigil in Orlando was very moving. Attended by approximately 50,000. It takes so long to read all the names of the dead, no way to keep the tears from flowing.MOO - My Opinion Only

the highway patrol reported that the woman told investigators she believed she had been waved through the procession."

Angels Quietly Block Westboro Protesters at Orlando Funeral
As thousands gathered in Orlando, Florida, on Saturday to mourn the death of Christopher Andrew Leinonen, who was killed last weekend during the worst mass shooting in modern history, a handful of protesters from Westboro Baptist Church were among them.
But their incendiary, anti-gay signs were met by counter-protesters who've made a tradition of blocking them out with a powerful symbol: angel wings.

A rainbow has appeared over the vigil for the victims of the Pulse massacre in downtown Orlando.
People cheered, pointed and took photos of the rainbow over Lake Eola Park Sunday evening in downtown Orlando.MOO - My Opinion Only

Rest In Peace, those that didn't' survive.
And heal internally and mentally, those that did.
It doesn't matter to them if this was Radical or Hate. They will never forget or really heal. Ever. RIP.

At the Joy Metropolitan Community Church, the Rev. Terri Steed Pierce told her largely gay congregation that survivor guilt was haunting some Pulse patrons who had made it out alive but had lost friends.
Pierce says she has heard of one man who committed suicide this week. She says he lost two of his friends to the massacre, though he wasn't at the club.MOO - My Opinion Only

Orlando funerals wrap up, survivors worry about future

““All of this has been so traumatizing,” she said. “The way that our community has been impacted, it’s just so unfortunate. We have so many wonderful lives that have been lost. When we look at all these crosses, and all these faces, all these stories, it hurts. It hurts so much.””
I see that Jason Dearen has made it to the big time (and moved to Florida?) and is now an Associated Press Journalist. He was one of the very best Bay Area journalists. I can't remember for sure but, I think he might have been one of the local people reporting on the Laci Peterson case and for sure on the Scott Dyleski case. Anyhow, I had not seen this article previously posted.
It's very sad.

The purchase was made June 6 at the Kay Jewelers in Jensen Beach, Florida, which is near the Lotus Gun Shop where Mateen attempted to buy body armor.
The owner of the shop would not confirm with ABC, but did say they were "working closely" with authorities.

"He didn't get into that", AG Loretta Lynch on whether on any of OM's three calls with negotiators, he mentioned his feelings towards gay Americans.
