NCMEC created a new composite for this doe, but I couldn't find a thread for her anywhere.

Date of Discovery: September 19, 1983
Location of Discovery: Broward, Broward County, Florida
Estimated Date of Death: Several months to a year prior
State of Remains: Not recognizable - Near complete or complete skeleton

Distinguishing Marks/Features: Small to medium build. Possibly Native, Asian, and/or Hispanic facial traits. There were signs of previous fractures to her left ankle and right wrist. She may have walked with a limp. An anthropological exam of the bones revealed that the female had Spina Bifida in her back but was possibly unaware of the condition because it was asymptomatic. The female also had osteoarthritis in her left hip and left leg that was most likely a result from a previous traumatic injury and possibly produced a chronic aching and altered range of motion in her left leg joints. The female also suffered a fracture to her left ankle earlier in life that may or may not have been associated to the osteoarthritis. She was wearing red or purple toenail polish. She may have had a colostomy.

That's not far from where my in-laws lived at the time.

US 84 is the access road that runs beside I-75 (Alligator Alley aka Everglades Parkway). State Route 27 is a fairly major road--four lanes, limited access. It runs from Miami inland to Belle Glade. It crosses 84 in a little place called Andytown. Eight miles north puts her inthe Everglades Wildlife Management Area, probably fairly close to Twentysix Mile Bend. (I'll try to get a map tomorrow. Google isn't cooperating tonight.) It's quite isolated but only ten miles or so from some heavily populated areas and only an hour from the Miami area.

This is the location that the body was found
I posted two map views so that you can see a) the location and how remote it is and b) where the location is in relation to the rest of Florida

I'm going to be looking into this case. I'll be back in Broward county next month so we will see where this adventure goes :)

I couldn't find anyone listed as missing with the history of the presumably extensive injuries that this Jane Doe has. There's always the possibility that they occurred after she went missing, however remote. Ellen Akers http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/a/akers_ellen.html is one that I think should be looked at. Launa Merritt http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/merritt_launa.html resembles the composite and possibly ran away/absconded. Carol Donn http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/donn_carol.html, Donna Barnhill http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/barnhill_donna.html, and Kimberly Rae Doss http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/d/doss_kimberly_rae.html are all a bit tall. Mary Hogland-McCluskey http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/h/hogland-mccluskey_mary.html has a history of running away. Teresa McDonald http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/mcdonald_teresa.html, Christine Huyer http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/h/huyer_christine.html, and Eva Ridall http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/r/ridall_eva.html have little information available.

I'm still new to this and don't fancy myself very good with faces, but these are the people mention that I "like" just because of how much I feel they look like this unidentified woman.

Ellen Linda Ackers. I think the date of disappearance is about a year more than this Jane Doe and she seems heavier. But I think she wide shape of the face matches. Jane Doe's eyes appear a little more narrow.
WS page: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...15-Ormond-Beach-18-April-1981&highlight=ellen

Leah Jean Van Schoik: Again, a little heavier than Jane Doe, but the narrow eyes match well. Date of disappearance would fit on the longer side, since it was about a year.
Her WS page: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...oick-17-Plantation-15-Aug-1982&highlight=leah

I think they all have potential, really. I dismissed a few because of weight, but it's possible she could have been held and lost weight somehow?

Does it hurt to mass submit possibilities?

No, it can only help. With the new NamUs guidelines: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?346071-NamUs-critia-for-making-matches for submitting matches something to keep in mind is that you'll have to submit them both separately. Another thing is that it is very difficult to estimate weight for skeletal remains so it could be off.

Does anyone know how common it is for someone of this assumed age to have a colostomy?

It sounds as though it should be quite distinctive.

That would be pretty unusual. I wonder why they think she may have had one, maybe they found a bag nearby?

NamUs doesn't, but Doe Network mentions the possible colostomy. I don't know how easily they would be able to tell that from skeletal remains or if something else clued them in on that.

Yeah I know. I was just pointing out the discrepancy in the sources.
