Michael Rodriguez left his home around June 20 and hasn’t been seen since then, according to a Riverside County sheriff’s news release.

Sheriff’s officials say that on the same evening Rodriguez left his home, his blue Hyundai Elantra was captured entering the park by surveillance video.

The car was found inside the park, abandoned, on Thursday, the release says.

The Azusa Police Department is looking for Michael Louis Rodriguez, also known as "Mike". (Mike has) a tattoo on his left forearm. A search and rescue team was deployed by Riverside County Sheriffs and members of the National Park Service over the (July 4, 2016) weekend.

The video shows an archer shooting a deer in a forested area next to Tapert's house, followed by the deer running away down the street. The deer then died.

Several media outlets identified the suspect as Michael Rodriguez. He told CBS2 that he first shot the animal in the forest, but the buck didn't die because he hit it near its spine. He followed the deer into the residential neighborhood so he could kill it.

"I was following up a wounded animal and taking him out so he wasn't suffering anymore," Rodriguez said.

May have been found last month in Joshua Tree. His family said it was him in a post on Joshua Tree Search and Rescue Facebook page last month but have since deleted said post. They said the clothes and wallet found with the bones were his.
