A businessman is accused of beating and strangling his wife, then leaving her body inside her car at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, authorities said.
George Calleia, director of sales and marketing at a financial services firm, was arrested Sunday and charged with murder. He had called 911 about 6:15 a.m. Friday to report his wife of 13 years, Susan, and her vehicle missing, Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin said.

A high-powered financial executive beat and strangled his wife and left her body in her car in a secluded wooded area a mile from their $3 million Jersey shore home, prosecutors charged yesterday.
George Calleia, 43, had reported his wife, Susan, missing from their stately red-brick Georgian house on Tranquility Lane in the affluent rural suburb of Holmdel on Friday at 6:15 a.m., according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin.
Police found her car with her bludgeoned body inside the following morning in a remote section of the sprawling PNC Arts

Police found Susan Calleia's body Saturday morning in a remote area of the arts center in Holmdel, not far from the couple's home on Tranquility Court, Valentin said. On Sunday, police charged Calleia with his wife's murder, alleging he beat and strangled her. The couple have an 8-year-old daughter, who is staying with school friends.
An autopsy showed Susan Calleia, 43, died of multiple blunt force trauma and strangulation, Valentin said. He would not say what evidence prompted authorities to charge Calleia and whether there had been problems in the couple's 13-year marriage.
At a hearing in Superior Court in Freehold yesterday, Calleia's attorney, Nikole Pezzullo, entered a not-guilty plea on behalf of her client and said she'll try to get a reduction in his $3 million bail.
Judge Bette Uhrmacher said she would hear the request at a later date, but agreed with the prosecution's recommendation that Calleia's passport be surrendered and that he possibly be put on some type of monitoring program if he is eventually released on bail.
"There is a strong flight risk in this matter," Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Peter Warshaw said.

Susan Calleia, a stay-at-home mother, was active in events at the Ranney School, an exclusive school in Tinton Falls that her daughter attends. Five years ago, the couple moved to Holmdel from Manalapan where they lived in a more modest house.
Their home in Holmdel is a sprawling two-story structure with a brick facade and a three-car garage on an acre of property on a cul- de-sac with only five other homes. Yesterday, neighbors asked police to keep members of the media from knocking on their doors.
In September, Calleia joined Shadow Financial Services Corp. in Edison where he works as director of sales and marketing. He previously worked at Wachovia Securities, the Prudential Insurance Co. of America and Bache & Co, according to a Shadow announcement in September.
Susan Calleia was described by a family member as a loving mother and wife. The relative, who asked not to be identified, said she recently confided that she couldn't see spending the rest of her life with her husband.
The relative said Calleia was a controlling man who was meticulous to the point of being obnoxious about the things he owned.
