The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation hopes the public can help identify people in a surveillance video released in connection with its investigation into the slaying of Donnie Cooksey in Cumberland City.

Cooksey, 51, was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound inside his Wallace Street residence on June 7.

The surveillance video, captured around 1:45 AM (the approximate time of the crime), shows three individuals identified as persons of interest in this investigation. The video also shows a pick-up truck that may belong to one of the individuals.

Five individuals were charged in March.

During the investigation, TBI agents developed information that a white truck was seen in the area at about 1:45 a.m. that morning around the time of Cooksey’s death.

The investigation later revealed that Gerald Lovelace and Abdullah Powell were in that truck, had intended to rob the victim, and killed Cooksey, TBI said Tuesday in a news release.

Powell and Lovelace, both 37, were arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder. They were booked into the Stewart County Jail, where they are each being held on a $1 million bond.
