The man died from trauma to the chest area, officials said. The initial autopsy showed the man was 5 feet 4 inches tall and in his 40s or 50s, officials said.

MANATEE
A death investigation is underway after skeletal remains were found in the woods behind the Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission offices at Port Manatee by two Mosquito Control workers who were checking the area for mosquitoes, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office was called to the scene mid-morning when the remains were found and the remains have since been taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Clothing found on scene included a cap with the word "Linder" across the front, a long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, a pair of black leather shoes, and a "Refrigiwear" cooler jacket. It was estimated the time of death was between 49-365 days from 7/20/16.
