    Exclamation Miers Withdraws Nomination

Bush Stung As Miers Withdraws Nomination By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent

In a striking defeat for President Bush, White House counsel Harriet Miers withdrew her nomination to the Supreme Court on Thursday after three weeks of brutal criticism from fellow conservatives. The Senate's top Republican predicted a replacement candidate within days.

I feel a bit sorry for her. How would you like to be "the Supreme Court nominee who never made it to the hearings." Kind of hard to hold your head up after that, and it wasn't her doing.
