“She was hiding in the closet and called me from the closet while it was going on,” Susan Gemmer said of her 18-year-old granddaughter, Alexis. “We were texting back and forth, telling her to stay quiet, stay calm, we’re on our way. She kept saying, ‘They’re dead, they’re dead, I saw them, I was right there and I saw them.’”

Gemmer said that according to her granddaughter, the gunman arrived with a rifle at the party of about 15 to 20 friends from Kamiak High School — mostly recent graduates aged 18 to 20. The gunman walked through the house to the fire pit out back, where he shot two people. Those present knew the gunman, she said, and he and one of the victims had broken up last week.

The shooter then made his way onto the roof, where some of the friends were hanging out, Gemmer said.

The young man who lived at the home tried to lead Alexis Gemmer to safety by escaping out the garage. As they rolled under the garage door and the boy bolted across the street, the gunman began shooting at him from the roof, her granddaughter told Gemmer.

I'm glad they caught him before he killed himself. With the mass shooters, few of them ever make it to a trial. James Holmes is one of the few I can think of who did.

(BBM) it looks like he had thought about suicide.......

From everything I've read, it seems many mass shooters also suicidal. They plan to die by cop, or kill themselves before getting caught. James Holmes is an exception, as is Anders Breivik. Breivik's motivations were political and he wanted the opportunity to continue to express his views after the shooting and bombing. That is why he did not commit suicide.

In the case of this shooting, I'm going to speculate that once the kid had driven away from the scene of the shooting, he started to feel like he might be able to get away with it, and that feeling helped override any suicidal urges. If the police had shown up on the scene when he was still there I wonder if he would have killed himself on site.

my first client Saturday morning had been laying awake and at 12:30 he heard the gunshots, but didn't hear any police activity. He went back to sleep and didn't think about it again until the next morning when I mentioned the shooting. It really left him dumbfounded.

Court documents released Friday show that Allen Ivanov, accused in a shooting rampage that killed three people at a Mukilteo house party, texted friends before the violence and announced his plans.

Hours before the shooting, a friend suggested that Ivanov shoot deer instead of Anna Bui, his ex-girlfriend. "No, I'm killing everyone at a huge party," Ivanov texted on the morning of July 29, court documents say. Hours later -- and 90 minutes before the shooting began -- he texted a friend: "I'm two minutes from shooting."

You wonder why the friends didn't police--and the obvious answer is they didn't believe what he was saying.

MUKILTEO — Allen Ivanov has been writing rap lyrics from jail bragging about killing even as his lawyers attempt to persuade Snohomish County prosecutors not to seek the death penalty for the young Mukilteo man.

Ivanov, 20, penned a letter in October to a former Snohomish County jail inmate convicted of murder. The letter starts with “rap ideas.” The lyrics focus on guns and violence and what Ivanov calls the “murder game.” They appear to directly reference the July 30 mass shooting at a Mukilteo house party, where three people were killed and a fourth was injured.

This makes me wonder what would have happened if the friend had gone to the cops. I am surprised he didn't, given how many mass shootings there have been over the past few years.

In this case, he explicitly states his plans to shoot up a party, after many other texts about shooting people. I wonder how his friend is coping with it now.

A Mukilteo man texted a friend repeatedly about his intent to kill his ex-girlfriend, according to newly released text messages from Allen Ivanov's phone.

wow- that is a shocker. WA state currently has the DP on hold, so the odds he would get executed any time soon is very small. But I am glad he spared the family the pain of a trial.
