The Laurel County Sheriff's Office is reporting that the body of 16-year-old Kayly Lockaby has been found in the Bee Creek area of Whitley County.

On Friday, Lockaby was reported missing by her foster parent. A warrant was issued later that day for Skyler Barnett, 21, of Knox Couinty for Harboring a Runaway.

According to the Whitley County Sheriff, Barnett is in custody, but at this point, he has not been charged in connection to Lockaby's death.

The Whitley County sheriff says deputies were looking for Lockaby Friday evening after receiving information that she was at a home in the Bee Creek area. According to investigators, they discovered the teen's body as they were approaching the side of the home. Lockaby's boyfriend, 21-year-old Skyler Barnett was found inside the home.

According to jail records in Whitley County, Barnett was booked into the detention center early Saturday morning and charged with unlawful transaction with a minor, possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

So the possibilities which come to mind are drug overdose or domestic violence.

A preliminary autopsy showed no physical damage. Family members will have to wait for lab results to reveal more answers. "I just feel like somebody ripped my heart out. I'm just empty. There's a big ol' hole there," said Bonnie Lockaby, Kayly's biological mother.

While investigators aren't saying foul play, a man is behind bars. Deputies found Skyler Barnett in the home near where Lockaby's body was found. He's now in the Whitley County Detention Center charged with unlawful transaction with a minor, possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. Lockaby's mother says he's led her daughter down a bad road before. "He just introduced her to substances and doing drugs, and she gained an addiction to it," she said.

So it looks like a drug overdose.
