On Tuesday night, Sylvester Davis Jr. called his father to see how he was doing, Sylvester Davis Sr. said.
The elder Davis said the two spoke briefly around 10 p.m.
The next day, the father started making plans to bury his son.
On Thursday, Tallahassee police continued to search for clues in the shooting death of Davis Jr., a 33-year-old city employee who was found dead Wednesday in his southwest Tallahassee home. His death is being treated as a homicide, according to police, making him the ninth homicide victim in the city this year.
Davis Jr., assistant supervisor at the Lawrence-Gregory Community Center on Dade Street, was "not the type of person to not call," center supervisor Aurora Torres-Hansen said.
So when he didn't show up for work on Wednesday and didn't call to say he wasn't coming, she got worried and sent staff to his home on Arnold Street.
