Aug 08, 2016

An anonymous donor is offering a $25,000 reward to anyone who locates Olimpia Mikszan or provides information that results in her being found.

Mikszan was 18-years-old when she disappeared from Abbotsford two decades ago.

She was last seen outside her basement suite home with an acquaintance on the morning of June 21, 1996. The next night some of friends went to her place and called police when they discovered she was missing.

Mikszan said not knowing what has happened to her daughter has been agonizing. “Every day it is very hard,” she said. “Especially holidays, birthdays, it is always hard and we think of her all the time.”

Olimpia has an older brother and two younger sisters, and they struggle with her disappearance, said Mikszan. “We are just praying there is someone who knows what happened,” she said.

Olimpia is Caucasian, 5-feet-2, has brown hair and brown eyes.

Her family came to Canada from Poland in 1990.

Abbotsford police Const. Ian MacDonald said they have had some tips about the case.

Details of Disappearance
Olimpia Mikszan, 18, was last seen on June 21, 1996, outside her rental suite. Having just completed high school with honours, the talented art student was disappointed she was not accepted into the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver.
Olimpia had recently told friends she was going on a hitchhiking trip across Canada and that she might go backpacking elsewhere in British Columbia. Police say she left nearly all her belongings at her residence. Her wallet with about $130 cash, a blue backpack and her Canadian citizenship papers were the only things missing.
Though she’d been living on her own for about a year prior to her disappearance, Olimpia often visited her family for dinners and to take her two younger sisters on outings. Police are at a loss to explain what happened to her.Her mother describes Olimpia as caring, well mannered and clean living, a loving daughter and an “independent soul.”

WATCH: Crime Stoppers needs your help finding out what happened to Olimpia Mikszan.
She was last seen on the morning of June 21, 1996 outside her rental basement suite, located in the 2600-block of Sunnyside Crescent.
Mikszan’s landlord spotted her on that day. She says a man named John Davis attended her residence to look at Mikszan’s vehicle, which appeared to be broken down. Davis was Mikszan’s acquaintance and her employer. Later that morning, the landlord saw Davis leave in his pickup truck. She can’t say for certain if she saw Mikszan in the truck when he left. But that was the last time she saw her.

I'd like to know if the police interviewed this John Davis and how he was eliminated as a suspect.

Olimpia went missing from her home, June 21 1996. She left behind her new puppy, her ID and her last paycheck from work. Despite this and the fact that she had her own place, the police deemed her a runaway. She was my youngest sister's best friend and would have said something to her if she was in trouble or wanting to leave. She had plans for her future, involving attending art school. My sister tried to give the police information about a couple of odd people in Olimpia's life, but sadly they did not take her claims seriously. There have been zero leads into her disappearance.
