OR - Elvin Dejesus Gomez Mendez, 15, Beaverton, 9 August 2016 *endangered*
A search and rescue operation is underway for a missing 15-year-old who was last seen around 7 p.m. Tuesday near Allenwood Apartments.
Elvin Dejesus Gomez Mendez had $5 when he left home to go to a nearby taco truck, police said, but he never returned. His family started looking for him and eventually called Beaverton Police Department Wednesday around 1:10 a.m.
Elvin, who goes by “Bito”, is described as Latino, 5’6″ and 125 pounds. He has short black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, black pants and blue shoes. Elvin attends Beaverton High School and does not have any friends in the area.
He reportedly has the mental capacity of a 7-year-old and speaks Spanish, according to police.

The Beaverton Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a missing, endangered 15-year-old boy.
Teams are now going door to door looking for him and backyards are being searched as well.

UPDATE: Mendez was found safe Wednesday evening at a home in the 6200 block of Southwest Hall Boulevard, just blocks away from where he lives, according to police.
Two kids spotted Mendez walking on Southwest 124th Avenue and followed him. They flagged down search crews after Mendez went to the home on Hall Boulevard.
