Remigio Herrera Hernandez
Alias Raphael Sanchez
Mendocino County Case # 02-2313
NamUS Case # 6857
Date of birth: 15 May 1966
Disappeared: 11:57 AM on 11 June 2002
It is widely and erroneously reported that Remigio was 43 years old when he vanished. The dates above put the lie to that "fact".
Remigio was a Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighed 140-180 pounds, had black hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo on his left arm. He was wearing a yellow rain suit and black sea boots when last seen.
Remigio was dropping fishing pots (probably crab pots, as it was the season) overboard from a fishing boat 8 miles at sea from Noyo Harbor, Fort Bragg CA. He fell overboard. Both a ring buoy and a rescue line were thrown to him, but he sank. The U.S. Coast Guard responded with both boat and helicopter, but did not find him.
Remigio's fingerprints are available. His dental charts and DNA are not.
Information concerning this case may be called in to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office Tipline at 707-234-2100. Their Investigative Services Bureau may be emailed at barneys@co.mendocino.ca.us.The Sheriff's Office can also be reached at 951 Low Gap Road, Ukiah, CA 95482.
