BATON ROUGE - Emergency personnel are searching for a child that was reportedly washed away by flood waters on Friday morning.
It happened in the 1700 block of Plank Road near its intersection with Charleston. Officials say the child is believed to be a 4-year-old.
Emergency personnel were trying to get the family out of a flooded home when the child was swept away by the current after falling into a ditch.
Sheriff’s deputies have a boat in the water and are searching for the child.
