Kathleen Herencia, 58, eagerly pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the killing of Roger Herencia, 66, saying she hoped to enjoy the state prison she was being sent to as much as her time in the Lehigh County Jail.

"No one is mean to me," she said of her jail stay. "They treat me like a person."

The statement left Judge Maria L. Dantos shaking her head as she sentenced Herencia to 15 to 30 years behind bars.

Kathleen Herencia told the judge that she earned her prison sentence.

"I know what I did was wrong. You can't take another life. No matter how awful the other person is, you can't do what I did," she said.
