http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukn...knife-attack-on-Lancashire-businesswoman.html

Ms Hartley, who ran a medical communications business, was found dead in her detached, stone-built property on Sunny Bank Road, police said.

She was alone at the time, with her partner Ian Johnston, 56, an ex-fireman, abroad on a skiing holiday in the Swiss Alps. Police have said he is not a suspect.

Nothing was believed to be missing from Ms Hartley's home and there was no forced entry.

Ms Hartley suffered defence injuries as she fought back from the attack, launched possibly on her doorstep.

If anyone has any important links they feel should be included in the opening post, please let me know & I can add them. Thanks!

Here's the 9pm September 1st ITV documentary, trailer

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...ws/sadie-hartley-killer-arrested-bed-11779506

As ITV commissioned this as soon as the trial completed, I expect Ian Johnston knew this programme would be coming out. IDK if he appears in it, he's bound to have been asked to, but anyway it maybe motivated him to speak to the press in the days following the verdict delivery?

The programme is bound to be pretty salacious - it's ITV - but I won't forget, as Sadie's children say in this trailer - the murder has "ruined our lives"

Meanwhile KWalsh has been learning to knit, do crafts etc in prison. Doesn't feel right on any level does it?

Just marking my spot and going back to the "subscription" convo.

Cottonweaver - you can set your email notifications so you don't get any, or can just specify certain notifications.

Cherwell - I never thought to go through quicklinks, will check it out now. I just click on settings (top right on laptop) and it brings my subs list up with most recent posts first. Or if I click on my username it brings up all my posts, and those of my contacts.

It is quite hard to navigate, hence why the UK Index is so useful.

Here it is again (below) !!

Will be interesting to see if IJ is in the documentary - I would expect Raw TV to have asked him for an interview.

Re the prison activities. Whilst I can understand that the prison has to provide some kind of daily routine and keep prisoners busy, I find the outline that KW has provided does make it all sound very cheerful and relaxed, with the knitting and crafts.
Is this because they were on remand and still considered innocent until proven otherwise ?
I would like to think there is a stricter regime now that they are convicted murderers.

This is the police video ( from Thread One, Legally Bland's post ) of how they caught SW and KW and the clips of them walking to Sadie's home on January 7 and 14

I might have missed this when I was abroad, but there is video here of the exact moment Williams was woken up at 3am when the police came to arrest her. As luck would have it (for us!), Lancashire police had a film crew with them who were making a documentary about the force.

Grrrrrr. It's one of those wretched videos that you can't pause without a huge 'play' arrow and a load of other stuff springing up and obscuring the screen. Why do they do that!

That's right. I get no notifications at all. Don't need them.

I don't either, I check in often enough haha! That said, I set up notifications for PM's while I was away as I knew I wouldn't be logging on here much. Would have worked a treat if all the emails hadn't gone into junk box!

Someone remind me when the documentary's on, think it's 1st September.

Yes, Thursday September 1 at 9pm .... ITV - which is next week .........aaahh, scary, where did summer go

I am looking forward to watching this documentary, very interested in what they say/do during and after the arrests.

Am sure David Hardwick will be planning his prison visits to SW in Styal

http://www.insidetime.org/hmp-styal-prison-regime-info/

Thankfully there is definitely no horse-riding but sports are available!

You can see how many courses are available - very diverse. Realistically, she won't need work training for when she gets released at 65 so I don't see why she would deserve the vocational training on offer there.

Walsh OTOH is in New Hall ( nearWakefield Yorks)

Thanks for those links Cotton, very informative. Looks as though the range of activities is the same, whether on remand or convicted.

I totally agree, SW does not need work training so she really should be given something more beneficial to do ( beneficial for society I mean, not for her ).

It sounds as though Styal is not a very hardcore prison, with only 27% of prisoners having a sentence of over 4 years and I would bet that SW is one of the longest sentences in there. Have to wonder how other prisoners will react to her, if they have much lesser charges and sentences. She is possibly in a league of her own, in the worst possible way.
Also, it looks as though both she and KW have been accommodated, location wise, to be close to relatives - or in SWs case, perhaps just her sugar pal DH, as we have heard nothing re her parents and if they have any contact with her.

There's been no comment from SW's mother throughout the whole trial - read one comment that her Father had made, but that's all. Would be interested to know what sort of relationship she has with her Mother.

Am sure we have this detail on the First thread but am putting it back up as I had not read the comments re DHs wife and catching him and SW in his home - yuk !

Re DH

He was married with two kids but refused to leave his wife.

was said to be “besotted” with her.

Even when his wife Rowena found out, he refused to end the affair.

A relative said : “Rowena suspected something and caught them at it in their marital home.

“It all blew up and we told her to tell him to get lost but he didn’t. He refused to give up Sarah. He’s basically said, ‘You’ll come off worse if we split up’. He’s a control freak.”

also this includes the comment from SWs father.

Yesterday Williams’ dad Chris, who is separated from her mother, said: “I have spoken to Sarah’s mum and we are just in shock. We have wondered if her abduction in her childhood affected her more than we thought.
“She (the mum) lived with Sarah day in day out and it’s hard to see when you’re so close up to someone sometimes.
“it just doesn’t add up. It has been hard to get my head around. I’m still trying now.
“After these last few months there are times when I wonder if this is really me that is going through this. Confused is an understatement.”

Have just re posted the article with the quote from SWs father. It does sound, from his quote, as though SW lived with her mother after her parents split up. I remember one article which said she lived with her mother until age 25, at which time she bought her first house and moved out.

Would be most interesting to know how they got along. From age 17 as we know, she was with DH and her parents were aware of the situation.

I have been reading back through msm to find the part where I read about her parents opposition to DH.

I have found this snippet re her mother's opposition, but I thought I had read a comment re both parents disapproving.

Attracted to the wealth he had accumulated through family firm Wirral Fuels, Williams soon began a relationship Mr Hardwick, then 57.

She ignored her mother’s opposition to the relationship and remained his devoted mistress until Sadie Hartley’s murder.

There is also a comment saying that SW and her father were estranged at the time of Sadie's murder.

Her 63-year-old father Christopher, from whom she was estranged at the time of Mrs Hartley’s murder, is a retired electrician. He and her mother separated not long after Williams’s alleged abduction.
