OH - Jason Binkiewicz Jumps to Death from 3rd Floor of Courthouse, Aug 2016

    -
Police in Ohio are shocked after a convicted inmate jumped to death after his court hearing.

It happened Friday after a judge handed 42-year-old Jason Binkiewicz a 13-year prison sentence. Binkiewicz was convicted of attempted murder and felony assault after shooting a man in the face last year.

When a deputy started to escort Binkiewicz out of the courtroom, he managed to jump to his death from the third floor courtroom -- a fall of approximately 100 feet.

It's very surprising a jump from a 3rd floor would be 100 feet--that courthouse must have awfully high ceilings.

What town was it? I do know in Chillicothe, thinking its 3 stories and yep its high up. Plus several steps outside you have to go up. Older but if one would jump from there, I believe its concrete all around.

240px-Jefferson_County_Courthouse_in_Steubenville.jpg Surprising indeed, unless there's a drop off at the back of the building I don't think it is a 100 feet unless the top floor is called the 3rd floor. Oddly, Wikipedia (source of the photo) says the building used to be 6 stories but the top floor collapsed in 1950 and they left it at 5 stories.

The top floor was more like a clock tower in the center rather than a full complete floor.
