Police: Good Samaritan Breaks Into Car To Rescue Kids Left In Motor City Casino Garage

DETROIT (WWJ) – A 25-year-old man is expected to face charges after he left two young children in a car while he gambled at Detroit’s Motor City Casino.

Detroit police were called to the parking garage at 11:25 a.m. Monday on a report of kids left unattended in a vehicle.

According to police, a concerned citizen broke into the car and rescued the two boys, who are 5 months and 2 years old...

Gambling dad released, arrested after kids left in car

A father who went gambling Monday while his two young children sat locked in a hot car outside was arrested Monday after detectives at the scene “improperly” ticketed and released him, according to police.

The 25-year-old Ypsilanti man, who is not being named by police, now faces possible charges of child neglect and abandonment, Sgt. Michael Woody said. He is being held at the Detroit Detention Center awaiting charges and arraignment.

“He was prematurely released before we actually concluded our investigation to make sure there was any evidence there to arrest,” Woody said. “We had to go out to make contact with him, to re-establish contact with him, go out to Ypsilanti and arrest him.”

Woody emphasized that the man cooperated with authorities and was taken into custody without incident...
