Claiming to file a complaint, a man entered into the police station of Rempart Saint-Etienne on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., when he tried to grab the service firearm of a police officer, a security assistant.

Without having reached that goal, he took out a knife and struck the officer in the throat. The attacker was overpowered and transferred to the central police station.

The individual is aged 31, from Algeria according to a source of the police union, and he showed signs of psychiatric disorders. He would have attacked the security assistant "because he represents France," said the same source.

Parisian investigators are expected to arrive on site

The victim was taken to hospital with multiple injuries that need to be sutured. His prognosis is not engaged (no mortal danger)

A police woman present in the commissarait at the time of the facts is it in shock.

The Rue du Rempart Saint-Etienne was cordoned off by the police.

Well, that was quick, both for a diagnosis by cop AND a sex change.

Half the sources mention that the victim is a woman, and according to others the victim is male.

Pressco is at 5 o'clock pm (local time is 4.20 pm now).

Attack is eerily similar to the recent Charleroi attack.

Alerted by screams, colleagues quickly intervened to control the individual "who was in a state of lunacy."

For now, "the motives remain unclear," a police officer said. "He seemed to blame the state or government. That was not clear."
Other sources indicate that the man would be "fixated on the DGSI, the French Intelligence Services."

The author, A. A. was detained. He is known for acts of violence and destruction that date back two years. His radicalization has not been confirmed. He would have had a previous psychiatric background.

The young police officer, in office for six months, was severely wounded in the neck. He was taken to hospital but his prognosis is not engaged, according to two police sources. The prosecutor will hold a press conference at 17 hours.

While we're at it, there were two other Alluh Akhbar incidents today in France

In Cambrai, in the North of France, a man shouted Alluh Akhbar and fired shots from a window into a main street.
No one was hurt. The man has been arrested.
According to police, the man is about 30 years of age. He was known to police for minor offenses and has a history of psychiatric problems.

In Strasbourg, near the German border, a man tired to grab the weapon of a military guard in the main hall of the railway station. The attempt failed. The man ran away but was quickly captured. He told police he needed the weapon to end his own life.
The man is Polish and was previously unknown to police.
