The body was located near Lady Grey Drive, a small street that runs along the bank of the Ottawa River ending at its most southern end in a parking lot used by employees of the mint. The Ottawa Rowing Club is located further north along the street.

Inspector John Medeiros tells CTV Ottawa it's not yet known how the person ended up in the water, but at this point in time foul play is not suspected. Investigators will be checking missing persons reports as they attempt to identify the body. Medeiros says the woman's age is currently unknown.

An autopsy will be performed Monday.
