Dozens injured after decks collapse at Connecticut house party

Between 30 and 40 people were injured late Saturday after two decks collapsed on top of a third during a party at a house near Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.

Hartford Police Department Deputy Chief Brian Foley posted on his Twitter feed that a third-floor deck of a house about two-tenths of a mile from the Trinity campus collapsed onto a second-floor deck, which subsequently fell onto a first-floor deck.

Trinity College is a liberal arts school in Hartford with about 2,200 students. Founded in 1823, it's the second-oldest college in Connecticut after Yale.

Dozens Injured In Porch Collapse At Party Near Trinity College

Nearly 30 students were taken to hospitals after porches collapsed on top of each other at a house near Trinity College during an off-campus party late Saturday night, police said.

But the worst of the injuries involved broken bone, and none were life-threatening. The victims were "walking wounded," Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley said in a press conference.

Fire Department Capt. Raul Ortiz said that 27 people were injured.
