-- John Lockhart, a lawyer with a family and a business rehabilitating homes, was open with friends about his extramarital affairs, swinging and drug use, police said.

But he did not tell anyone about his forays into *advertiser censored*, including raping a 4-month-old girl, photographing the acts and storing the images on his computer, police said. For those crimes, Lockhart, 37, was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison after pleading guilty to 19 charges.

Lockhart is eligible for parole in 10 years, but prosecutors said he is unlikely to be released.

"Sex acts like this to a baby are outra geous," said Assist ant Summit County Prosecutor Connie Lewandowski.

Lockhart did not speak before he was sentenced by Sum mit County Common Pleas Judge Marvin Shapiro. But Lewandowski later said he made a rote statement to a detective.

"He said, One addiction leads to another,' " she said.

Akron police began investigating Lockhart last August, after a former business partner obtained Lockhart's computer. A software firm hired to recover business files found about 100 stored pornographic images, including those of Lockhart raping the infant.

Lockhart fled. After he was featured on "America's Most Wanted" television show in June, he was arrested in California, living under a different name and operating a pornographic Web site.

His wife filed for divorce, which was granted in January.

On Wednesday, Lockhart appeared in court with long straggly hair and an unkempt beard. His attorney, Joseph Gorman, said Lockhart took responsibility and did not want the victim's family to face a trial.

Lockhart pleaded guilty to charges including rape, pandering obscene material and gross sexual imposition.

Shapiro labeled him a child sexual offender and ordered him to have no contact with the victim or her family for life.

Akron police Detective Crystal Bowen Carter spoke to Shapiro on behalf of the victim's family.

"Do I think you're sorry?" she asked Lockhart. "No. I think you're only sorry because you got caught. You're the worst kind of pedophile. You were open about everything in your life but in the closet about molesting kids."

In 10 years he will be 47 yrs old. So in 10 yrs. some other child will be at risk.

Hopefully Parole will be denied.

He was brilliant, graduating at the top of his class wherever he went. He was educated abroad as well as at one of Ohio's finest law schools. The world could have been his.

But John Dallas Lockhart had secrets tucked away in his inner closet.

He was a pedophile.

And for that, the Akron man who became the subject of a national manhunt is going to prison, perhaps for the rest of his life.

On Wednesday, Lockhart, 37, pleaded guilty to multiple counts stemming from his rape of a 2-month-old girl, an act he photographed and displayed on the Internet. The photos were one of hundreds of images of child *advertiser censored* found on his computer.

But prosecutors don't believe Lockhart will be released when he is first eligible for parole in 2015.

``These crimes are unthinkable. The photos were absolutely raw, and his behavior is nothing short of evil,'' said Assistant Prosecutor Connie Lewandowski.

Lockhart, a married father of two, appeared in court looking nothing like the intelligent scholar described by police and prosecutors. His hair was long and greasy; his beard bushy and sprinkled with gray.

Aside from pleading guilty and acknowledging his crime, he said nothing when offered the chance.

How on earth do you rape a 4 month old baby? Did the parents not discover something wrong with it? I feel so sorry for the baby.

The parents did discover something wrong with the child. That is how the rape was discovered.
What I would like to know is why so many of these baby rapers are from Ohio? This makes what- 3 or 4 in the last year.

This guy ain't making his first parole. No way in hell. He'll be lucky to MAKE it to his first parole. Baby raping is the kind of offense that has not only the prisoners but the COs and staff eager, ready & willing to make your every waking moment a living hell. And it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. The only thing that might keep him alive is that he's a lawyer, that's it.

I had never heard anything about who the baby was; I assumed it was his own child. What infant would a grown man have access to for any length of time? This whole thing made me so sick...

I first learned of all this from LiveJournal, where I am a member, and this creep also had a blog. I read it out of morbid curiousity and he seemed so normal! Unbelievable to read his thoughts and think this is the same man.... nothing in his LJ made you remotely think of this. I thought it was bad enough to learn he and his wife were swingers. His wife also had to occassionally be hospitalized for severe depression. I wonder how she's possibly coping now.

Ugh. I just feel sick to my stomach.

I hope he's being raped many times over as I write this.

I hope he doesnt make it to his first parole. people like him can never be rehabilitated. he would get out and do the same again. He is a monster!
