Missouri is a rural state, with few high-profile cases (aside from Shawn Hornbeck). But in the same areas, there seem to be abduction or murder cases that seem identical.

Is it possible that these abductions and murders could have been committed by the same culprit? NOTE: I am NOT saying they are all definitely connected, I am saying they MAY be connected.

1990 – Katherine Baker, 30, was last seen on the 14th or 15th April 1990 in North Kansas City. Her body was found on 19th April. She may have visited bars in the North Kansas City area prior to her disappearance.

1985 – Peggy Alt, 17, vanished from High Ridge, Missouri, after packing her belongings and leaving her home on March 2nd 1985. Missing.

1989 – Gina Brooks, 13, was last seen as she left home on her bicycle in Fredericktown, Missouri, on 5th August 1989 sometime after 10pm. She was seen near a local church, talking to the driver of a light gray, green or blue station wagon with Missouri licence plates. A scream was heard sometime after that and her bicycle was found later that evening. Missing.

1991 – Angela Hammons, 20, was last seen in Clinton, Missouri, on 4th April 1991. She was talking in a telephone booth to her fiancée. A ‘filthy bearded man’ apparently came out with a flashlight. Angela was heard screaming and the call ended. Her fiancée began to drive there and said he saw a green Ford F-150 pickup. Witnesses near the crime scene said they saw a man with coveralls and a dark baseball cap at the site. Missing.

1991 – Cheryl Kinney, 30, was last seen in Nevada, Missouri, at her job at the Quality Convenience Store on 27th February 1991. She clocked out at 10pm. Witnesses say they heard a woman screaming. Her case has previously been connected to Angela Hammond. Missing.

1992 – Stacy McCall, 18; Suzanne Streeter, 19; and Sherill Levitt, 47, were last seen in Springfield, Missouri, on June 7th 1992. Stacy’s parents called police after she had not returned home. All personal belongings were found at the house. A light outside had been smashed and cleaned up unknowingly. Missing.

1992 – Tracy Pickett, 14, left her home in Joplin, Missouri, to stay over at a friend’s house on 11th August 1992. During a party at the house, a man named Al (who has been identified as Lowell Andrew Billy, who was convicted of an unrelated crime in 1993) was seen talking to her. Neighbours reported that they heard a girl scream. There is insufficient evidence to charge Billy with any crime. Missing.

Her therapist had advised her to do this if Bianca had an argument. She never arrived home. No sign of her was found, ruling out the theory that she got lost. Missing.

I decided these cases, or at least some, could be connected. These were all young women, most of them in their teens, (the average age is 19) with some of these cases indicating an abduction. Some were heard screaming and some got into vehicles.

Some were seen leaving work, some going to or from friend’s houses or school. 12 of these 17 incidents took place between March and August. Quite a number of these seem to have suspicious circumstances.

There seem to be two main groups. Those leaving work to go to a parked car, or a young girl walking alone and being coerced or pulled into a vehicle. The Springfield Three and Amanda Caudill seem to have been abducted from their homes, but maybe the killer had spotted them earlier?

What is puzzling is that after 1997 there seems to be a large gap, with only four having occurred after that year. If it is the same person or persons, maybe they went to prison?

Now, these might NOT be related and I am not suggesting that they are. I am saying that some of these seem to share similarities and distance.

Could it be the I-70 killer? Could it be someone else? Whatever the answer, I think that this idea should certainly be considered. How come most of these women are still missing? Missouri is, as I said before, quite a rural state, with plenty of room to discard a body if you knew the place.

If it is the same killer, he may use a vehicle for work or have family in different parts of the state. I just want these cases to be solved and the families given peace.

Many believe Gerald Carnahan might have been a serial killer. I believe he was arrested for Jacki Johns murder in 2007 and then incarcerated for that murder in 2010. I don't know if there would be any way to determine his whereabouts in the time-frames you have outlined. I am sure he was looked at for the "Springfield Three".

It's very interesting that you should mention that. It's just that I found all of these cases to be too similar and some those too close together in terms of geography.

I wish I had time right now to look into a lot of these cases in detail.
I guess the first point of call is to request as much documents from LE and solicitors as possible and start from there.

If these ARE connected (and that is very unlikely that they all are, but many they have similar circumstances), then the perpetrator, if he was about 20 in 1985, he would be around 50 now. Were any fingerprints recovered from the tape binding Angie Housman? Or DNA from any crime scenes?

I will give this thread a bump. I would put the I70 Killer out there as a suspect in some Missouri cases. If you look at the I70 Killer thread I have posted about a case where he may have adducted a victim from a shop as opposed to shooting the other know victims. I do not know in the Springfield Three case but am putting the theory out there:

Keep in mind that the drive from St. Louis to KC used to take 5 to 6 hours.

I know that we've found serial killers to be mobile. IMHO it's more likely that a few different perpetrators are responsible for these disappearances & slayings.

Possibly an east/west division, or I-70 & I-44 corridors? High Ridge and Crystal City are close together; Joplin & Springfield close, Nevada a bit north.

Can someone set up a map? We need Spencer Reid, color-coded pushpins for year of event or age of victim!

Many of these towns are miles and miles from I-70.

That's why I'd like a map, to show any clusters. Clinton, Nevada, Joplin, and Springfield are, map-wise close to north-south Highway 71.

Far, far away from Farmington, High Ridge, and Crystal City. Per Mapquest, under an hour from Farmington to Crystal City on I-55 or Highway 61.

Snatching a child off a bike seems to me a rather different crime than talking a woman into a car at a bar.

Age of victim (victimology,) month & year of event....

JMHO YMMV LRR

And -- anyone interested in reposting with current Charley Project links?

Many of these towns are miles and miles from I-70.

I like to use the phrase I am a foreigner because that is what I am and I come from a small country and I am sure there are some distances between the towns but the I70 Killer definitely struck in Missouri and likely as far afield as Texas. I am not saying he is responsible for all the crimes but we know he was active in Missouri and by his very moniker the I70Killer liked to travel and drive. One of the detectives said the I70 Killer had come to their town for no other purpose than to kill.

Like I say there are of course likely more than one offender in these cases as they are numerous. Just want to make the point the I70 Killer travelled great distances and through a number of states during his short but prolific crime spree of the known crimes associated with him. The Angela Hammond murder is one that sticks in the mind from Unsolved Mysteries as she was pregnant and there was the car chase involving her boyfriend. Of course very nasty as they all are. I do not know who the offender was but in my opinion like the I70 Killer he seemed to have the luck of the Devil on his side:

Of course I was not there at the time and would have tried to stop the crimes if I was. I do not know who killed Angela Hammond or kidnapped the other victim but I am as certain as I can be the pock marked Ralph Leon Jackson was the offender known as the I70 Killer.

Theise cases should be reprinted in the paper of the towns where they accured and local papers mabey something will click and give new evidence on the case so it can be reopened
I agree with your suggestion on this one. Keep people thinking about what has happened. Sometimes these killers do strike in other states. I had suggested, in another conversation, that perhaps the Springfield 3 culprit also abducted Jodi Huisentruit. It is in a straight line along the same freeway. The similarities are listed in that other conversation. Some people say it's possible and others say no way.
