Phillips said the Gainesville Police Department subpoenaed Petty’s cell phone records and have been calling every one of her contacts since the records were received.

He said they are still awaiting some calls to be returned, but so far the story has been consistent with each contact.

“She was letting people know that she was going away,” Phillips said during a telephone interview Tuesday afternoon.

Police have also reached out to family living out of state and no one knows where Petty is, he said.

Since the missing person report was made public, police said there have been “two or three” possible sightings of Petty reported.

“We have not been able to confirm or validate that’s who they saw,” Phillips said.
