Human remains in missing woman's garden

Police have dug up human remains in the garden of a woman who disappeared more than four years ago as detectives hold a man for her murder.
Saraya Broadhurst, 43, has not been seen since she vanished in Torquay, Devon, in February, 2001.

A 52-year-old man was arrested last night in Torquay by police investigating her disappearance and he is still in custody.

Police yesterday erected a marquee in the rear garden of a house in Wright's Lane, Torquay, when they began the dig in connection with her disappearance.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokeswoman said: "A tent has been erected in the rear garden of the address and a forensic archaeological investigation is taking place."

Ms Broadhurst, who was unmarried, lived in a flat in the property.

The police said the development followed a new lead in the missing person inquiry.
