Just an FYI after reading the article at the link provided by los2188, and probably a trivial point. The son's last name won't be Gorbunova but Gorbunov. Its how the Russian language makes the distinction between male and female. Mrs. Gorbunova / Mr. Gorbunov

SON PRIME SUSPECT IN MOM'S DISAPPEARANCE

    Snip

Authorities said an Uber driver reported dropping him off at Flushing Meadows Park on Sept. 29 with suspicious smelling trash bags. The driver called police, but Roman Gorbunova was gone by the time they arrived.

Police sources told CBS2 they have obtained surveillance video from that day of the woman’s son carrying large trash bags and a trash can from the lobby. He was arrested the next day for stealing a computer monitor from security and given a desk appearance ticket.

    From link posted above http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/...cle-1.2820503:

“Lyubov would cry and tell us that he would hit her, threaten her, all these crazy things, that she didn't know what to do with him,” the friend said, adding that the health aide was very afraid of her son.

Roman Gorbunova had also taken a trip last year to Uzbekistan to visit his sister. The sister told the family friend her brother was “straight-up crazy.”

    SON IS IN CUSTODY!

    Snip

Police arrested Gorbunova on Sept. 30 in a separate incident, officials said. He allegedly stole a surveillance monitor from the security desk of his mother’s apartment building.

After Gorbunova was released, an Uber driver called in a tip about a suspicious passenger who brought a garbage can to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, police said. The package was “suggestive of an individual discarding of a body.”

Police searched the area Thursday, but were not able to find Gorbunova’s mother, officials said. Officers are still searching for her.

    Snip

Gorbunova admitted to police that he beat her to death with furniture, a police source said.

The pair had been drinking alcohol when they starting fighting and his mother allegedly told him she wished he’d never been born, the source said. That’s when he picked up a piece of furniture and struck her multiple times.

FLUSHING, Queens (WABC) -- Police recovered a black bag with human remains in Willow Lake at Flushing Meadow Park Saturday morning.

Earlier this week, police were searching for 58-year-old Lyubova Gorbunova at the park. The Rego Park woman was last seen on Sept. 27. Police had not connected the remains found with Gorbunova on Saturday.

Police said he was spotted on the surveillance cameras at their building two days after she vanished. He was lugging in a large garbage bag, and sources told Eyewitness News he was arrested for allegedly taking a surveillance monitor in the building's lobby then released with a desk appearance ticke

Police said they were tipped off to the park as a possible dumping ground after they got a call from a livery driver who reported that he drove a man fitting Gorbunova's son's description there. The man had a garbage can with him.

On Saturday, the Medical Examiner was also on scene along with the missing persons squad. They are investigating and are trying to determine if the remains found are that of Gorbunova.
