Homicide in Gastonia still unsolved after 36 years.
Death: July 16, 1980
Cause: Stabbed in the chest, back and throat.
Background: Police believe Cecil Griffin was the victim of a robbery at his 2514-D Crescent Lane home. He was found on the kitchen floor by a neighbor at 9:30 a.m. July 17, 1980.
Griffin's wallet was missing after the attack, several drawers were rummaged through and a mattress was overturned, according to the July 18, 1980, edition of The Gastonia Gazette. There was no sign of forced entry, and no murder weapon was recovered.
