GUILTY UT - Weston Kubbe for kidnapping, assault of 11yo boy, Ogden, 2016

Police have classified this case as an abduction. CNR went missing at approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday night near Raymond Avenue in South Ogden.
R has been described as weighing approximately 80 lbs., having brown hair, brown eyes and wearing a green fox T-shirt with black sweatpants. He has a mole on one hand near his thumb and a slight scar between his eyes.
Police said it is believed that R is in the company of a male adult named Weston Kubbe. Kubbe is described as 6-foot-4 inches tall, 200 pounds with blond hair and hazel eyes. Kubbe has been seen driving a red 2009 Ford Escape.

The child has a mole on one hand near his thumb and a slight scar between his eyes. He was last seen wearing a green Moto Fox t-shirt and black sweatpants.

The victim left willingly with the suspect and may try to cover for the suspect. South Ogden is classifying this as an abduction. The suspect has a concealed weapon permit.

Kubbe was convicted of an amended charge of attempted burglary in 2002, according to Utah court records. He was originally given probation but was later ordered to serve his original six-month sentence for not successfully completing probation. Other than speeding tickets, Kubbe has no other adult criminal history in the Utah courts system.

Kubbe filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy in federal court in May, according to court records, and Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2013.

My mind went there too, unfortunately. I was relieved to still see his name and picture in the news stories reporting that he had been found safe. Praying it doesn't turn out like I was fearing it may. :tyou: for keeping an eye out for if we need to redact his name to protect his privacy! Much appreciated!

The news has started to redact his name:

FOX 13 News put out the name of the child and his picture when the Amber Alert was active. Since its cancellation, we have chosen to not to continue to name the boy.

We are also only using the first name of the 11-year-old's father to protect the child's identity.

SOUTH OGDEN — Police believe an 11-year-old boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert on Monday was sexually abused by his alleged kidnapper.

Weston Ray Kubbe, 37, of Murray, was booked into the Weber County Jail early Tuesday for investigation of two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, two counts of enticing or luring a minor over the internet, and child kidnapping.

The judge did not approve appointment of a public defender. Kubbe will have to liquidate his assets to get a lawyer.

Kubbe remains in jail on a $600,000 cash-only bail.

In charging documents filed by the Weber County attorney, South Ogden police interviewed Kubbe after his arrest and claimed he "confessed that he had touched the child as reported and that the child touched Kubbe's" private areas.

Detectives with South Ogden police claimed Kubbe met the boy online a "few weeks ago" and entered into a "dating relationship with the child."

Kubbe allegedly told police he "would meet the child at an area near his school and they would do things together." According to court records, Kubbe would also meet the boy in his neighborhood.

:tantrum: Their was an interview with his neighbors in one of the links above that said they always saw young kids going into his apartment. I don't think I have the heart to go find it now.
I hope the neighbors can help ID some of the other kids this sicko hurt.
