Police Seek Public’s Help In Finding Missing Winona State Student

According to Winona State University, freshman Chukwudi Benjamin Onyeaghala was reported missing Sunday night after 10 p.m.

Onyeaghala was last seen on video walking eastbound on Mark Street near the Winona State library at 9:15 p.m Friday.

In my opinion, the information in Ben's disappearance has been scattered & inaccurate.
 
Police are asking property owners — especially in the neighborhood of the Winona State University campus — to check sheds, garages, or other places where a person could seek shelter, deputy police chief Tom Williams said. Police are also searching the Mississippi River.


Chukwudi Benjamin Onyeaghala, who goes by Ben, is known to have been on campus and in the surrounding area, Williams said, “but we have no leads beyond that.”

My gut wonders if their going to search Lake Winona, which is closer to where he was last seen. Couple of blocks maybe...Ben, I'm going to come look for you this weekend. I pray you are somewhere safe & warm.

Surveillance video shows Onyeaghala walking through the lower level pool entrance of WSU's Lourdes Hall around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Authorities believe he was wearing the same clothing all night.

"He was walking with one small group and then as another group passed he joined up with them apparently," added Chief Bostrack.

His friends say he seemed like his normal self on Friday night.

All eyes may have been on the homecoming game in Winona on Saturday, but behind the scenes, attention was focused on squarely on finding a missing Winona State University Student



Onyeaghala's father says his son wrestled in high school and could easily defend himself. "He's a very good guy, a very good wrestler. I'm surprised this is happening to him," he said.

To paraphrase this article:

An image was captured on surveillance camera that matched Ben's description as he walked on a sidewalk along the Mississippi River, in the Levee Park area, in the early morning hours of Sat., Oct. 8, 2016. This is according to Sheriff Ron Garude (Winona Co. Sheriff). It has not yet been confirmed that the image is of Ben.

The article goes on to say that Ben boarded a boat that was docked at the marina. Then the owner "came out" (I assume the owner was on the boat) and told Ben to get off the boat. The owner of boat and Ben had a "brief conversation" and that was the last of Ben that the owner saw, except -- he reported to authorities -- that he later found a couple of drops of blood and MAY have heard a splash.

Make of that what you will, but it does not bode well. A good wrestler is no match for a bullet.
 
This is Levee Park....it runs basically along East Riverfront Street.

I don't understand why the boat owner didn't call the police...

I've been down here at Levee Park today, not much action. Bruce's Legacy Search and Rescue boat in the water, as well as Winona County Sheriff boats. News crew just showed up... I'll update what I can, when I can.

Please, even if you don't believe, pray for Ben. There are no posters anywhere in town, no civilian search- just makes me sick.

I truly hate saying that.However, there is a grand possibility that he was the one on video, on the boat. We can speculate, we can theorize, and we can hope....
