"He has enemies. He does slightly have a drug problem," Labar said.
On Sep. 30, Genie says she was trying her best to get a hold of her son. When he didn't answer her phone call, she went to his apartment.
"When I got there, his key was laying on his refrigerator and I was walking around. Good thing I was there because I found a candle lit in his bedroom," Labar said.
She noticed his two dogs were missing as well. All these were bad signs to Genie. She called her daughter in Elmira to meet her at his apartment.
"Me and my mom both left a note in the apartment just saying, 'Please contact us. We are worried about you.' Then we had waited 24 hours before we contacted the police," Cady said.
