Fifty-four-year-old Stephen David Smith was last seen Aug. 13. There were*unconfirmed sightings the next day at the*Malden Oak Grove train station, in Boston and near Boston Police Precinct 1.*

Smith was reported missing on Aug.*19 after home health care went to his apartment on several occasions and he wasn't there. It was clear he hadn't been home and his dog had been left alone, which is out of character.

He has disappeared on short trips in the past, but his family says this time is different:
However, this absence, according to Richard Smith, feels very different, very dangerous and very out-of-character — the Smith siblings don’t believe their brother would voluntarily disappear while their father, who has been diagnosed with cancer, is ill.

It’s as if Stephen David Smith has just vanished.

According to his family, Stephen David’s mobile phone has been off since the day he disappeared. His telephone account shows no phone activity since he made his last call on Aug. 13 from somewhere in the vicinity of North Station in Boston.

They say there has been no activity with his bank or credit card accounts, and his apartment remains filled with all of his possessions — including toiletries, medications and clothes that he normally would take with him on a trip.
