Mother of baby buried in the woods enters plea in her infant’s death

Geneice Petty, 25, entered an Alford plea to involuntary manslaughter in the killing of Antoine Flemons, two months after her husband, Antoine Petty, pleaded guilty to first-degree child abuse resulting in death.

“We’re certainly pleased she decided to accept her responsibility in the death of her 2-month-old son,” said Gina Ford, a spokeswoman for the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office. “She had an opportunity to intervene in this instance, and she did not.”

Geneice Petty’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13.

Antoine Petty faces up to 40 years in prison at his sentencing, set for Oct. 19.
