This is very worrisome:

Eight children were admitted to Seattle Children’s Hospital with acute neurologic illnesses and the State Department of Health is investigating the possibility of acute flaccid myelitis, a rare condition that affects the nervous system.

There are many different causes of AFM. Symptoms typically include sudden weakness in one or more arms or legs, along with loss of muscle tone and decreased or absent reflexes.

The exact cause of AFM is unknown, though many viruses and germs are linked to AFM, including common germs that cause colds and sore throats.

Yesterday was Dr. Salk's birthday but I'm sure it's unrelated, probably.

From the article.

Three of the children were from King County, one was in Pierce County, two were from Franklin County and the remaining two were from Whatcom County. Three of the eight children are still hospitalized at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

There are from all over. No known common link so far.

This occurred a few months ago to my chiropractor's nephew. He is 2 1/2. He is still hospitalized in San Diego.

Acchhhhhh---this is so frightening. I have my 15 month old grand baby coming over tomorrow and I will be sanitizing everything, everywhere in the morning, just to be safe.

BELLINGHAM, WASH. A 6-year-old Bellingham boy who has died was among a cluster of eight children who were admitted to Seattle Children’s Hospital in recent weeks with illnesses that caused sudden paralysis in an arm, a leg, or both arms and legs, the Washington state Department of Health said Monday afternoon.
The health department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are continuing to investigate the cases, which involve children from four counties who range in age from 3 to 14 years.
