Police: 'Badly decomposed' body found in Chillicothe home

A badly decomposed body, with its head detached, was found in a Chillicothe home on Monday afternoon, police said.

Chillicothe Police Detective Bud Lytle said officials found the body under "several inches of garbage," and carried the body out of the home around noon. Lytle said the body was "badly decomposed." So much so that they could not determine a gender or make an identification.

Officials are waiting on results from the autopsy to release an identity. Lytle said at this point in the investigation, there are no indications of foul play.

"But we won't know that for sure until the autopsy is returned," Lytle said.

Headless body found underneath four feet of GARBAGE inside hoarder's Ohio home on Halloween morning

CHILLICOTHE - Charles Kaltenbach lay dead in his Glencroft Avenue home for an estimated nine months before scavengers came across his remains on Oct. 31 and it took another six months to positively identify him.

This month, the Ross County Coroner's Office received confirmation the remains, which were partially skeletalized and partially mummified, belonged to the 69-year-old Kaltenbach, a Marine Corps Vietnam veteran who had never married. The passage of time took away a conclusive determination of his death and also led to a lengthy identification process using mitochondrial DNA.
