Former girlfriend of Lindt Café siege gunman Man Monis found guilty of murdering his ex-wife

The court heard Amirah Droudis, 37, stabbed the 30-year-old woman 18 times before lighting her body on fire at an apartment block in Werrington on April 21, 2013.

This pair of murderous psychopaths find each other?!! Why wasn't Monis held in custody, the Lindt cafe siege and murders wouldn't have happened?!!! I hope her sentence fits the crime!

Man Monis' girlfriend Amirah Droudis was in abusive relationship, murder sentence hearing told

"She has been the victim over many years of his bullying and violence," defence barrister Mark Ierace SC said.
"The spell ... is broken by the absence of Monis," he said.

Mr Tedeschi said the offence involved a lengthy period of planning by Droudis and Monis.
"She had plenty of time ... to consider the significance of what she was about to do," he said.

Droudis, 37, appeared calm as the sentence of 44 years, non-parole 33 years, was handed down in the NSW supreme court at Darlinghust on Wednesday.

Justice Johnson said Droudis’ moral culpability in the murder was high and that she had numerous chances to back out of the attack.

He said the pair had a very unusual relationship and accepted evidence she suffered emotional and physical abuse at the hands of Monis, whom he described as an “evil man”.
