Kohlhepp granted 3 requests before Superbike confession says sheriff

Wright took a picture to his mom

Wright let him talk to his mom

Transfer money to a girl he is helping raise to play for college, according to the Spartanburg Herald Journal

    http://www.goupstate.com/news/201611...ike-confession

Wright said after Kohlhepp was taken into custody, he asked him if he could grant him a few requests: to give his mother a picture of himself; to transfer money to a girl he is helping raise, to pay for her college education; and to allow him to speak with his mother.

Wright said he agreed to those three wishes, and it was four to five hours after Kohlhepp met with his mother that he confessed to the Superbike murders.

"'K is the real hero here,' [widow] said during a phone interview Monday. 'She’s the one that endured the two months of hell and stayed vigilant and alive, and it’s because of that we even get to talk about any of this.'"

Nichole Ellen Nunes Carver, 35, is accused of pretending to be Anderson police officer Charlynn Ezell, the lead investigator on the case, to try to get a service provider to tell her where Charles David Carver’s cellphone last pinged. The arrest warrant against Carver says she identified herself as "Detective Cherles Etzle."

"Basically, she was talking to AT&T trying to get phone records," Capt. Mike Aikens of the Anderson Police Department told the Independent Mail.

Video Interview with the Anderson County investigators here:

"You look at the records and then you look at them again," Whitfield said. "You may look at them two, three, even several times. You are trying to get them to tell you more than they want to in that first look."

KB's cellphone pinged on the Woodruff property up to two days after she was last heard from by friends in Anderson, police Lt. Tony Tilley said.

Ezell and Whitfield declined to discuss specific details about Brown or Carver's cellphones and how soon they believed they knew where to find the couple. The detectives said that getting phone records does not always happen quickly.

"Just because you have a search warrant, it may still take a phone company weeks or a month to respond," Ezell said.

(CNN)Two of the bodies found on the property of Todd Kohlhepp, a South Carolina man suspected in a series of killings, have been identified as Johnny Joe Coxie, 29, and his wife, Meagan Coxie, 25, Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Wednesday.

Clevenger said it appeared the two had been shot to death.

"48 HOURS" TO INVESTIGATE THE TWISTED LIFE OF ALLEGED S.C. SERIAL KILLER

When police found KB chained like a d*g inside a shipping container in Woodruff, S.C., they thought they were on the path to solve a missing persons case. What they learned soon after, however, was that they would just be getting started on the trail of a suspected serial killer.

“48 Hours” goes inside the missing persons investigation and the stunning revelations her alleged captor, Todd Kohlhepp, 45, a real estate broker, made to police in “Buried Truth” to be broadcast Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

    Recent article on Scott Ponder:
Ponder, who started a small motorcycle repair shop several years earlier, acquired the Suzuki dealership in January 2003. By November, he had already compiled $2 million in sales.

A 1990 graduate of Dorman High in Spartanburg County, Ponder was first drawn to the motorcycle business as a racer. He competed regionally as a teenager and once qualified for a race at the famed Daytona Motor Speedway in Florida.
As a dealership owner, Ponder attended a convention near Chicago, where he met Melissa — an Arizona native who sold extended warranties for motorcycles. A former homecoming queen at Safford High in Mesa, Ariz., she was also a successful salesperson.

In early 2003, not long after acquiring the Suzuki dealership, the couple began building a new home.

Kohlhepp recalled as great salesman with chilling quirks

He made a lot of jokes, some of them off-color. He talked a lot about his guns, his assault rifles, his BMW’s — and he sprinkled sexual innuendos into his conversation from time to time, she said.
“You think he’s saying things jokingly, but now you question, oh, my gosh, was he really joking?” she said.
She didn't suspect him of having a violent nature, although she did see him get “flustered” a few times when he got phone calls, and “was always whining and complaining about having to go collect rent from what he called deadbeats.”

“He would say, ‘I’m just going to go shoot my guns and blow off steam,’” she said. “He would say all these things in such a sarcastic way that you never knew."

Prayer vigil to promote healing amid ongoing serial killer investigation

Amid an ongoing probe into suspected serial killer Todd Kohlhepp, a group of Spartanburg County residents is seeking to bring people together in prayer Monday.

"The purpose of the prayer vigil is to unite all people in our county and beyond who want to come together and pray. This is a grassroots effort of several friends who felt led to give their time with planning and to bring the start of healing during this time of tragedy,"
This is such a devastating thing for our community. We thought, ‘How can we do something to make people in our community know that they are still loved. There’s hope.'”Walton said the event will be focused on victims and families, not Kohlhepp.
"We’re not going to let (Kohlhepp) win. He doesn’t deserve any glory, which is what he’s wanting now," Walton said. "These victims, that’s what it’s about."

Former attorney for Kohlhepp: 'No indication that he was a Bundy'

Attorney Allen Bickart, who has been practicing law for more than 60 years, said when he defended Kohlhepp, he did not believe his client would go on to harm others.

    ...
He said Kohlhepp's only concern while on trial was with how much time he would end up serving. He was incarcerated in Arizona until 2001 after pleading guilty to the kidnapping charge.
"He just was very very mixed up and screwed up in his childhood. That is what he told me," Bickart said. "He apparently had difficulty with his father and his father had put him up for adoption. He acted out of anger."
