A Utah high school student stabbed five boys in the school's locker room before stabbing himself Tuesday, authorities said.

I listened to the PC about this incident earlier today. The "suspect" student is 16, a straight A student, attended every day, is a new sophomore to the school. The school district said that there were NO warnings about this child. No previous disciplinary action, nothing. There was an officer on staff, so the suspect was taken into custody within 6 minutes of the first call. The officer tazed and then handcuffed the suspect.

Such a sad situation. We are lucky that the students were hurt and not killed.

Authorities said the suspect was previously home-schooled and was new to Mountain View High this year.

"After interviewing the suspect, victims and witnesses we believe this had nothing to do with race, religion, or ethnicity. The suspect had not been bullied by any of the victims, this was not retaliatory," Orem police said on their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon.

Possibly this one?

Credit also goes to the school resource officer assigned by the Orem Police Department to Mountain View. The officer was also able to get to the scene almost immediately and, when faced with a potential deadly situation, had the proper training that allowed for the use of non-lethal force in subduing the suspect. First responders also did an exemplar job of responding to the scene.

Mental illness is real, and it does not discriminate. Whether it's a troubled child, teenager, middle-aged adult or senior citizen, we all need to be able to recognize the signs and be willing to support people having access to the help they need.

We are thankful to know that the physical scars from Tuesday's event, by all accounts, will heal.

We are hopeful the mental scars will have the same opportunity.

That is not the article I posted about this morn, however, this one is better and more in depth. I will look and see what the name of the article is that I read. Thanks!
