Mark Hicks , The Detroit News 9:26 a.m. EST November 23, 2016

Authorities say a man suspected of shooting an on-duty Wayne State police officer in the head has a history of “assaultive-type” crimes against cops.

The 31-year-old suspect, DeAngelo Davis — who was arrested about 10 p.m. Tuesday, roughly three hours after the off-campus shooting of WSU K-9 Officer Collin Rose near Lincoln and Brainard — was known to authorities, according to Wayne State Police Chief Anthony Holt.

Holt said investigators are still trying to determine what prompted the shooting but believe Rose wasn’t targeted during Rose’s stop of Davis...

Hopefully, they have put him on life support, ie, a vent, so his body won't have to work as hard during this very critical time for his body to begin the healing process.

Update from 4:00 and 5:00 newscasts on WDIV: Officer Rose on life support and in grave condition. Surrounded by parents and fiancée; brother flew in from Boston to be at Collin's side. Mother of suspect says she is praying for Officer Rose but that her son didn't do this. He is mentally impaired and walks with a limp that precludes him from riding a bicycle. Bike found at scene allegedly belonged to suspect who was known at a local homeless shelter. WSU LE identified suspect as someone known to them because he has been involved in other violent confrontation with campus police.
