Police searching for Longueuil man who vanished 30 years ago
Pierre-Jean Durocher was 23 years old in 1986 when he disappeared, hasn't been seen since

Police are looking to speak to friends and former colleagues from the Harvey's restaurant he worked at in hopes they have information that may help solve the case.

Durocher was gay, and police think that could have made people reluctant to share information about him at the time.

"If you remember, 30 years ago it wasn't as easy, coming out," Voutsinos said.
Police are also hoping people who may have come across Durocher at the Longueuil rooming house he lived in, at gay bars or the saunas he worked at may know something about what happened to him.

Longueuil police are re-opening the case of a man who went missing November 25, 1986.

Pierre-Jean Durocher was 23 at the time and worked at a Harvey's restaurant at the corner of Chemin Chambly and Gentilly Street in Longueuil near CEGEP Edouard-Montpetit.
Police say in a news release Friday new investigation techniques could shed light on Pierre-Jean Durocher's mysterious disappearance 30 years ago.

Durocher was homosexual and police say they plan to inquire within the gay community.

Cannot seem to find height, weight, eye and hair colour for this mp, it would help!
imo.

It would also helpful to know whether Pierre-Jean's DNA profile has been compared to bodies found outside of Canada (the first two articles linked above say through DNA tests, LE have determined none of the bodies found since his disappearance belong to Pierre-Jean). I can't think of one off the top of my head, but it seems like there were some serial killers who were active in the U.S. around the time Pierre-Jean went missing, whose victims were mostly gay men or young boys, and in some of those cases, remains were recovered but never identified.

"The two had set a time to meet for lunch, as they often did. But when she got there, she couldn’t find him anywhere.
'He just wasn’t there anymore,' Mychèle said on Friday, 'And no one could tell me where he was.'
By the end of the day, Mychèle had gone to the local police station to report her brother, 23-year-old Pierre-Jean Durocher, as missing. His backpack was found on the Jacques Cartier Bridge a few days later." (BBM)

I wondered if suicide has even been considered :(, and then found:
"The Jacques Cartier Bridge is often called the most beautiful span off the island of Montreal -- an elegant cantilever link that soars high over the St. Lawrence River and defines the city's skyline. ... But another group is drawn to the bridge for a more macabre reason. An average of 45 people try to kill themselves by jumping off the Jacques Cartier Bridge each year, and about 10 succeed -- making the Montreal landmark the biggest suicide magnet in the world after San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge." Thanks so much for the great find(s) !
In this pic. PJD was wearing some kind of pendant, wondering if it was one that he usually wore and if it could be a cross?
Also, did somebody place his backpack at the bridge to make it look like he committed suicide?
Thinking that he would not have made arrangements with his sister if that is what he was planning, or at the least, meet up with her first as planned, as a " goodbye" lunch.
imo, speculation.
From the link.

In the 1980s, AIDS was a virtual death sentence and disproportionately affected gay men. Many chose suicide as the less horrific option.
