This map shows the more than 500 cases in our Highway Serial Killings Initiative database; the red dots mark where bodies or remains have been found along highways over the past 30 years.

Is there a list I can refer to for these red dots? I would like to look at each case individually and see if something sticks out to me. Ideas I have in mind are industry close to a dump site, warehouses close to dump sites, old school truck stops...

While the great majority of truck drivers are “the good guys” we depend on to keep the entire country running, The FBI reports that at least 25 former long haul truckers are convicted serial killers who used America’s interstates as their hunting and dumping grounds. In May 2016 FBI Crime Analyst Christie Palazzolo was quick to point out that long-haul trucking is an honorable profession and that the overwhelming majority of drivers are not murderers—but it does happen, and the pattern is unmistakable. More than a decade ago, analysts for the FBI’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP)—the only national database of serial crimes—began to see a marked increase in the number of bodies recovered along the side of the road. A majority of the victims were truck-stop prostitutes, and it turned out that many of the suspects were long-haul truckers. “We had an inordinate number of victims and offenders from this rather specific population pool,” FBI Crime Analyst Christie Palazzolo explained. To make matters worse, these cases are extremely difficult to investigate.

I shudder seeing the old red rooster lot. That was one scary place! Nasty doesn't begin to start to explain the tales that have come out that stop.

Ex-Call Girls, Current Call girls post stories here?

We need a place to feel comfortable talking about the times we have had knives at our throat or narrowly escaping a sk without realizing it until much later. Myself I dont want le to have a hold on me they dont already have so I wont be reporting to le or fbi my narrow misses but I maybe inclined to talk about them here!

I've never seen a complete list which ID's all of the markers. (Highway Serial Killer Initiative thread: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=155462

We do have separate threads for different regions, though. It might be helpful to check those. I look forward to hearing more from you and others in this thread about your personal experiences.

Thank you Bessie for the link. I am heading over there now. I often feel I have nothing to offer here and spend a lot of time going down rabbit holes that lead me nowhere. But on the subject of trucking, this is a lifestyle I know and understand well. I will see if anything pops out to me within the cases we do know of.

Post your stories here. There is no reason to not feel comfortable since a thread has been created for just that,

Truckers and workers alike can just post their experiences.

Love the info that comes from those in the field!

    Happy New Year to every

I once helped a sex worker out. (I'm a bleeding heart)
I spent several hours with this lady and I asked many questions. Her basic reason for becoming a sex worker was based on survival. She had been married to a man from another country, had children by him and one day found herself alone, he had taken the children, left her with no funds and she was desperate. She had no job, had not worked outside of the home for years and found it hard to obtain employment with no recent work record.

The day I helped her out she jad taken a ride with a driver who dumped her in a truck stop that was not in a populated area and she was trying to get back to a city she knew and knew she could "work" and make enough to survive.

I was able to keep up woth this lady for about 2 years then nothing. The backup contact person she gave me lost track of her as well. I've often wondered what happened to her. (This was pre social media days)

I am a pretty good judge of character and I truly believe most of what this lady shared with me.
This paticular lady was different than others I've come in contact with out in the trucking world.

I understand. I got so many rabbit holes off screen, but then I see something here that brings me back.

You've had a lot to offer here and thank you for your insights!

Just heartbreaking. That life is SO dangerous. Some feel they need to do it.
