Both of the latest victims are related to Eunice Daugherty. Jessica Daugherty is her granddaughter and Jeremy Daugherty is Jessica's son and Eunice's great grandson. The past 12 months have been very difficult for this family.

There is definitely speculation that Kennedy was responsible for the October incident (and perhaps some other killings in the area) but I don't believe that LE have any evidence of that at this time.
 
This is so sad. I hope Jessica Daugherty survives,
 
McDowell County woman dies six months after domestic shooting - May

A McDowell County woman shot by her estranged husband in November 2016 has died.

According to the West Virginia State Police in Welch, Jessica Daugherty passed away Thursday while in the care of the Golden Harvest Nursing Home in Welch.

Second murder charge for McDowell County man

The West Virginia State Police served a first degree murder warrant against Michael Glenn Kennedy, 32, on Friday for death of Jessica Daugherty.

Michael Kennedy has not been charged with Eunice's murder but he is still a suspect.

In December 2016, McDowell County Sheriff Martin B. West said Michael Kennedy was also a suspect in the death of Eunice Charlotte Daugherty, 73, of Coon Branch Mountain. Eunice Daugherty was seriously injured during a home invasion at her residence on Oct. 5, 2016. She was initially airlifted to a Charleston hospital and died later that month.

Michael Glenn Kennedy was indicted on murder charges last month but not for Eunice's murder. He is still referenced as being a suspect in her death.

Michael Glenn Kennedy, 33, of Iaeger was indicted on charges including two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of felony murder, first-degree robbery, nighttime burglary by breaking and entering and grand larceny.

Kennedy was charged with first-degree murder after the Nov. 27, 2016 shooting death of a 16-year-old boy during a home invasion in the Coon Branch area of McDowell County. The boy’s mother, Jessica Daughtery, was also shot during this incident. In May, she died at the Golden Harvest Nursing Home in Welch.
