GUILTY PA - Dennis Pitch, 52, murdered in his Narvon home, 4 Dec 2016 *arrest*

A burglar broke into the eastern Lancaster County home where 52-year-old Dennis C. Pitch was found dead with gunshots wounds in late 2016, state police said. The homicide remains unsolved.

Authorities said the home, on the 5800 block of Timothy Drive in Salisbury Township, was burglarized between Feb. 26 and 28. State police issued a brief news release about the burglary this week.

"No more information is available at this time. It is an ongoing investigation," state police Trooper James Spencer said Tuesday.

Dennis Pitch was found dead in the home on Dec. 4 after he failed to show up to work the day before. Pitch died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to his autopsy. The coroner's office ruled the death a homicide.

The Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, which is leading the investigation, has said it continues to look for leads in the case. Charges have not been filed, and no one has been arrested.

Of the four men charged in the shooting death of his older brother, one name was familiar to Darren Pitch.

It was Kristopher Smith, who lives in Narvon and had been in Darren's home several times since Dennis Pitch was killed in December 2016.

“He said, ‘If there's anything I can do to help you find out who did this to your brother, just let me know.’ And then I found out this guy was one of them?” he said.

The four men knew Dennis had planned to withdraw a large sum of money from a retirement account, according to police. The night of Dec. 2, 2016, they parked at a church behind Dennis’ house, where Bills kept watch and the other three grabbed guns and broke into the home, police said.

A Pennsylvania state trooper testified at a preliminary hearing Wednesday that one of the four men charged in the 2016 homicide of a Salisbury Township man identified his co-defendants.

Brandon James Bills, 37, of Narvon, also gave police a narrative of the events leading up to the fatal shooting of Dennis Pitch, according to testimony from Trooper Chad Roberts.

Bills waived his rights to a preliminary hearing Wednesday and so did co-defendant Kristopher Allen Smith.
