Murdered victim remembered as a 'beautiful girl'

    Soul sent spiralling

The latest sex-trade worker to be slain and discarded on the outskirts of Edmonton is being remembered as a beautiful girl who lost her way after falling into drugs.

Brianna Torvalson, 21, was found murdered in a Strathcona County driveway on Thursday, after working as a prostitute for two years to fuel her drug addiction.

Requesting privacy, her family released a statement yesterday:

"Brianna Torvalson's family would like the public to know that she was NOT a discarded, forgotten street person but rather a loving, caring, beautiful, irreplaceable soul."

Torvalson spent a lot of time around the Fort Road area near the Transit Hotel where many around there knew the 21-year-old, including bar patron Cory Vanderbilt.

"I knew her since about two years ago when she was a beautiful young girl. Then she met the wrong people and fell into bad habits and when I saw her last week she looked about 90 years old," Vanderbilt told Metro outside of the Transit Hotel.

Unfortunately I went to high school with a murdered prostitute in Edmonton, her name was Brianna Danial Tolverson. I have been unable to find any information on her specific murder can someone help?
There were rumours that a pimp or gangster named Jerome was involved but people can't if him due to that being his "street" name at the time of her death she had a drug problem and was known for jumping johns for money and not having sex with them.
she also had a new born baby boy at the time of death.
Please websleuthers help me find info on my friend
she was found in strathcona county..
    in 2008 I believe
    anyone have any info????
    TIA

118th Avenue and the neighbourhoods that surround it are home to much of Edmonton’s street-sex trade. After the remains of many women turned up in rural areas beyond the city limits, the vulnerability of the women working on the Avenue became a focal point of Project KARE.

    THE MONSTERS IN THEIR MIDST

As the government launches an inquiry into violence against indigenous women, Matthew McClearn explores the challenges faced by a team of police investigators as they worked to solve a series of murders in the forests and fields outside Edmonton

Murder of any kind is a profound tragedy for the friends and family of the victim, but for police, serial homicides present a particular challenge. Failing to respond appropriately to a series of related murders typically attracts public scorn, and is often followed by withering public inquiries.

Yet, linking cases in real time is no simple task. Commonalities such as how victims were selected and where their remains were discovered may reveal patterns in offenders’ motivations and behaviour, but serial killers do not always behave consistently. And when victims’ disappearances remain undetected for weeks, police begin their investigations at a significant disadvantage.

Thank you.. I am frustrated that her murder is still unsolved.. has there been any suggestions that she may have also been murdered by the same guy who was murdering prostitutes in Edmonton and around area? Has there been named any POI I spoke with police back when this happened but I have not herd any clues suspects or evidence being taken by police...
    someone knows something...

The last time anything was ever said about her was in 2008? That's like 8 years ago!!!
How does one go about getting this back in the media?

These women were also located in Strathcona, noting that one of the two, like Brianna apparently was known for stealing from johns.
Wondering if that has any correlation between who gets placed in that particular area.
For some reason, Brianna does not seem to be included with that group.
    imo.

Brianna is briefly referenced in this book, also scroll down a bit to the Mall Rat heading and a guy named Jerome is mentioned and pictured. Not the Joe you suggested in an earlier post, but maybe the name is somewhat similar and maybe the name you intended?
    speculation, imo.
