Arrest made in 1984 murder Last Updated Nov 18 2005 01:58 PM CST
CBC NewsWinnipeg police have laid charges in a grisly 1984 murder case that went unsolved for more than two decades.
A 64-year-old man was charged Friday with first-degree murder in the death of Beverely Ann Dyke. Dyke, 48, was stabbed 15 times and sexually assaulted. Her body was found in a wooded area behind the Air Canada maintenance hanger in Winnipeg.
Police say the accused was originally questioned in Dyke's murder but never charged. He fell under suspicion again in the spring when he was arrested in Hamilton on separate charges.

That is great news!
Earlier today I read about two men being arrested for murders committed in 1983 in Texas. They killed five people in a KFC restaurant.
It is so good to know that LE keeps plugging away at these cases, it makes me hopeful that a lot of cold cases may someday be solved.

From March 2010:
Robert Kociuk, 68, was found guilty Friday night of first-degree murder and given a mandatory sentence of life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years...
"Our family has been waiting 26 years for a conclusion to this nightmare," an emotional Chris Dyke said outside the courthouse.
His mother, Beverley, was randomly targeted and attacked by Kociuk in a case which puzzled and frustrated investigators for years. Kociuk was finally linked to the crime after advancements in technology meant a sample of his DNA collected following a robbery conviction was matched to semen found on Dyke's body.
