UK - Abigail Witchalls stabbed, paralyzed

    Surrey, England:

Unfortunately, for Abigail, it appears she will be permanently paralised from the neck down after receiving a three inch stab wound in the back of her neck severing part of her spinal cord.

forensic tests on the baby buggy will take 4 weeks to complete (as they grow a culture from the monster's sweat left by his hands on the buggy) and by then police might be able to nail the beast who attacked this woman.

    What now for Abigail?

Witchalls was attacked while taking a stroll along a quiet bridle path near her home with her son after attending a toddlers group 12 days ago. She told police a man had been watching her in a blue four-door estate car before following her. He grabbed Joseph and held a knife to his throat before gesturing for her to come towards him. He then grabbed her hair, pulled her to the ground and stabbed her once in the back of the neck with the knife.

Neighbours who heard her scream found her lying on the ground with blood gushing from her neck. Joseph lay near her, uninjured.

Apparently so, from what i've read in the news.

hubby was at work at the time, so he has an alibi and Abigail was found minutes after the stabbing by neighbours who heard her scream.

a devoted, deeply religious catholic family, blissfully happy -- altho i know what you're getting at.

husband won't leave her side and she saw her attacker and has been answering questions by investigators (she uses eye blinks and lip movements to communicate as she can't speak).

    she's described her attacker.

it's up to the police to nail him now.

So this was just a maniac with no motive???
it just seems like he was intending to kill her
and kill her quickly doesn't it?

he didn't even mess with the child (Thank God)
but doesn't it seem like a murder-for-hire type thing?

Detectives investigating the stabbing of Abigail Witchalls have interviewed the former girlfriend of a dead man being treated as a suspect.

The Surrey Police officers travelled to Australia to speak to Vanessa McKenzie, ex-girlfriend of Richard Cazaly, 23, who died after an apparent overdose. The detectives are due to return to the UK on Tuesday, but police have not revealed the outcome of the interviews.

Floh, hope you can keep us posted on Abigail's physical progress, and the winding up of her case.

This part of your post is mind-boggling. What information will the culture give them, I wonder?

forensic tests on the baby buggy will take 4 weeks to complete (as they grow a culture from the monster's sweat left by his hands on the buggy) and by then police might be able to nail the beast who attacked this woman.

They look like such a nice little family...and Abigail seems to be a fighter...I hope she succeeds in walking again.

Have you heard any news about her pregnancy?

    Feeling is returning says Abigail

Mrs Witchalls said she was "making progress every day"
Stabbing victim Abigail Witchalls has spoken of sensation returning to her body as she recovers in hospital.

Dr Fred Middleton, consultant in spinal rehabilitation, said Abigail had sustained a "very complex injury".

New leads in Abigail case after TV plea

New leads in Abigail case after TV plea

A NEW witness to the attempted murder of Abigail Witchalls has come forward following an appeal on Crimewatch.

A reconstruction of the attack in the Surrey village of Little Bookham at the start of the BBC programme prompted 58 calls to the studio and the Surrey Police incident room in just over an hour and a half last night.

Among the callers were two people from outside the area, including a man who told how he had been close to the scene of the attack one month ago and may have seen the attacker fleeing.

    From your Link:

Det Supt Adrian Harper, who is leading the investigation, told the programme that police had yet to trace two men who were tending a bonfire at the time of the attack.

He also insisted that former Little Bookham resident Richard Cazaly, 23, who apparently committed suicide within days of the attack, was still only one line of inquiry. He said that two letters left by Cazaly before his death did not amount to a confession.

That was a surprise. I had thought they were set on the suicide as being the perp.

It's good to hear that Abigail is doing well. I hope she continues to recover, and makes it all the way!

    Abigail suspect DNA test negative
Jeans worn by the man who killed himself after young mother Abigail Witchalls was stabbed do not carry traces of her DNA, scientists revealed.

Forensic teams have been analyzing clothing worn by Richard Cazaly, who lived near Mrs Witchalls in Surrey. Despite this latest finding, police say Mr Cazaly, 23, is still considered a suspect in the attempted murder case.

I wonder if Abigail was able to identify Richard Cazaly as the perpetrator, from photos of him?? Surely LE has done this already. I would think this would be one of the first things they would do once Cazaly became a suspect. Watching and waiting for more news.
