Once the airliner was back at MSP, several police officers came aboard to escort the two away, a video shot by a passenger and posted on YouTube showed.

Patrick Whalen, who shot the 98-second video from the plane's first row, said Koosmann was upset because a flight attendant told her she couldn't use the bathroom in the flight's first few minutes.

[...]

It was amid the verbal barbs, just when it looked like the commotion in the plane had subsided, Fleisig “punches one of the passengers,” Whalen said.

I am so tired of adults exhibiting rude and obnoxious behavior. How did we ever get to the point where this cr@p is a daily occurrence?

Edina used to be a very expensive suburb. I wonder if they have cheaper housing now?

I wonder how true it is because if you have to go to the bathroom, I would think that may be an emergency.

Has anyone had the use of a bathroom denied to them on a plane?

Hi friend :)
Can you expand a little more about how the level of expensiveness (I made up a word!) may have an impact on this couples' behavior?

First world problems, pretension, privilege

Edina used to be for millionaires +.

I would think if you were in that category of income that you would fly First or at least business class . I only know of the level of service from others, not personal experience.

They have their own bathroom and I imagine their own staff to help them.

Those of us in the cattle car are jammed in. I have flown that route a lot. The staff has always been kind even in cattle car.

I have been on flights with medical emergencies where medical staff is called to assist.

But if you have a bathroom emergency , sometimes there is no waiting. I would think any staff would be aware.

It strikes me as very strange.

I like to go to the bathroom on the plane right before landing and even though they tell you to be seated, no one says anything about going to the bathroom.

So weird

Yeah I'm guessing the bathroom trip request wasn't done politely. If it were me I'd be all "I'm sorry I know we're about to take off but I desperately must go... " and I'm quite certain I could go. Sometimes it's all about how you ask.

I've only been in First Class on my way back to 9th class. I hate that all of us peasants have to see what we're missing. :)

If one passenger claimed emergency need for lav, why were two out of their seats?

"The flight captain twice said over the intercom that the people in back needed to return to their seats, Whalen said. His orders ignored, the captain warned, “ ‘If you don’t sit down, we’re going to turn the flight around,’ ” Whalen said." bbm

And punching other passenger? Really? And after LEOs already on board to escort off them plane?

^bbm sbm Yes, as just as plane started taxiing, I rang call button to ask; flight attendant said "no" & pilot did not need to repeat on P.A.

What was her purported emergency? May have been legit. Or may have just as profoundly urgent as fast- food customer calling 911 to report restaurant employee's refusal to provide a third ketchup. IDK.

Just glad there was no in-flight catastrophe.

This is a topic of which I am thinking about a lot because I must have ate something weird. TMI, but there is NO REASONABLE WAIT TIME. Certainly anyone can understand that esp airline staff who sees everything.

There has to be more to this story. Punching another paasenger? They should be on the Delta no fly list.

I know if I had to go right now, I would be having a breakdown

We are all taught to not get up during taxi or liftoff and landing. It is a rule that is ingrained into the routine of flying.I have had to get up and go 5 or 10 minutes after takeoff or just prior to the seatbelt sign going off and it has not been a problem.I have also had to go during a decent but I make it fast and never just prior to landing.Unless you are about to go in your seat you do not get up during that critical time during takeoff and landing that is when most airline crashes occur.I do not think this person having to urinate was critical,I suspect alcohol was involved and that explains the behavior and the need to go.Most of the bad behavior on flights is due to alcohol.People feel the need to drink in order to get through being crammed into small uncomfortable seats for long periods of time.

Sorry for the off topic tmi but immodium is my best friend when traveling. (and maybe a klonopin) but yeah. Immodium is good and helpful.

Agreed, though. This was almost certainly an issue not unlike that encountered by "Modern Family's" mom character on a rerun today, where she ended up sitting on a plane next to a "cheese-eating racist." Some people are just plain aholes.

^ I used to fly frequently on business. Yes, Immodium on standby = great idea. Ditto, carefully avoiding certain foods. Now back on topic.

You are not supposed to be using a restroom during take off or landing. So, no, never happened to me because I know better than using it during take off or landing.

Be grateful for your body's graces. Not all are so lucky.

Wow. That is classic. I am so certain no other passengers would take notice or offense. Thumbs up.

Well, I am sure passengers took notice when this plane had to go back and these two were removed from it.

I live in a Third World country now which is tiny island.People are very patient . Except when they drive. They drive like maniacs and are on your bumper for the ability to gain a few seconds.

My hubby and I could never understand the desire to drive so fast.

Until one day when we got some roadside donuts.

We ate some in the car and wow, we barely made it home.

Some friends today told us not to eat at a Chinese food place as they barely made it home.

So TMI but it happens .

When I was PG years ago my car was in the shop. I was on a bus and got sick right now. I told the bus driver he had to let me off. He was scoffing until it became obvious there was soon going to be lunch redux and he let me off.

These things happen. Apparently not to everyone.

Priorities. Don't care about take off and landing if I had an issue.

There is also the turbulence. People have suffered broken limbs from not being seated.

But, priorities.

I think those two probably had too much to drink before boarding the plane. JMO
